Like the rest of the world, Camila Cabello could not help but applaud the historical halftime performance of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at Super Bowl 2020. She took to social media to show her appreciation for the incredible Latino duo.
This Sunday evening, fans of American football came rushing to support their favorite teams at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Although the sports enthusiasts come to witness the game, there is another special reason for the craze around Super Bowl – halftime show. Since the anticipation around this show is insane, the organizers make sure to come up with innovative ideas. Similarly, this year we saw performances by the legendary and talented, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. While halftime performances are always mind-blowing, Super Bowl 2020 witnessed history in the making as two female Latino artists hit the stage together.
Firstly, Shakira started off fireworks with her songs like ‘She Wolf’, ‘Whenever Wherever’ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie’. Not only she mesmerized with her beautiful vocals, but Shakira also displayed her infamous belly-dancing moves as well. Later, she was joined by the Puerto Rican rapper, Bad Bunny.
On the other hand, J-Lo brought back memories with her classic song, ‘Jenny from the Block’. Her unbelievable pole dancing moves have become the talk of the town since Sunday. To add to this crackling performance, Colombian reggaeton artists, J Balvin made a guest appearance with her. Later, Jennifer Lopez’s 11-year-old daughter, Emme, set the stage on fire with her debut performance and made it a family affair.
In an Instagram post, the American-Cuban singer demonstrated her admiration for Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s historic Super Bowl 2020 performance. She said:
I was in awe last night watching these two vibrant, powerful, inspiring Latina women put on a show for the world last night!!!!! @shakira @jlo thank you for showing girls everywhere that you can be whoever you want to be in this life- and do it with grace, strength, joy, kindness, and a whole lot of badassness!!!
Furthermore, Camila Cabello praised them for representing their culture. Not only that, she thanked them for highlighting the anti-immigration policies of the US government. Also, she included Demi Lovato, who sang the national anthem, J Balvin and Bad Bunny in her appreciation post.
Needless to say, it was a one-of-a-kind performance by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. Let’s hope that this opens the doors to other ethnicities to bring their talent on the bigger platforms.
