Billie Eilish’s Road To Success With “Ocean Eyes”
Billie Eilish first uploaded “Ocean Eyes” up on Soundcloud for only her dance teacher to hear who wanted original music to choreograph a routine to. She had randomly recorded the song with her brother (who wrote and produced it) and never expected anyone else but her dance teacher to hear it. But then she woke up the next morning to learn that it had actually gone viral. And now the whole world was listening to it. And not just listening to it but being completely obsessed with it!
The song ended up inspiring other artists who, taking after Billie, made many unofficial remixes. This piqued the interest of many recording companies. And just like that, the singer was already signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records. And that’s where Billie’s career actually took off. All thanks to “Ocean Eyes.”
Billie was just a normal 14 year old girl who had went to sleep on a random night. Never once knowing she would be waking up to an overflowing inbox trying to inquire about her music career. She did not even know she HAD a music career to begin with.
Her arrival to the musical scene was somewhat unintentional but she came and convinced the world she belonged there.
Now Billie has multiple albums and has bagged several (read: five) Grammys. She was the first artist born in the 21st century to top the Billboard 200. Billie Eilish has also successfully taken home two American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Guinness World Records and one Brit Award. She is also the youngest persons ever who has won four main Grammys in the same year. These categories are Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.
So it’s safe to say that Billie Eilish, an overnight sensation in the music industry, has made it. And the song that started it all, “Ocean Eyes” hitting 300 million views is just cherry on the cake.
