Luca’s Plans For Dakota Johnson

In his recent New Yorker profile, Luca Guadagnino informed actor Armie Hammer (who plays Oliver in the movie) that Johnson would hopefully play his “Call Me By Your Name” character’s wife, with whom he would have had “maybe five children” in the intervening years between the original and the sequel.

Addressing the hypothetical scenario with Dakota Johnson, Luca Guadagnino said that, “She has to be a New England kind of hoochie woman.”

Audiences Impatiently Wait For 2019

There is speculation that the “Call Me By Your Name” sequel will probably be released sometime in 2019.

“It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone.”, Guadagnino revealed in an interview with USA Today. He He also confirmed that audiences can expect to see both Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet in the sequel.

What Will The Sequel Have In-store?

In the book by André Aciman, we follow Elio and Oliver over the period of 20 years as they sporadically stay in touch and try and steer their lives spent apart.

Luca has hinted the second installment will be set five years later in 1988, and that the AIDS crisis will play a part in the plot.“I think it’s going to be a very relevant part of the story,” Guadagnino told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think Elio will be a cinephile, and I’d like him to be in a movie theatre watching Paul Vecchiali’s Once More. That could be the first scene [in the sequel].”

If the first movie was a coming of age movie, then the second one will certainly deal with what comes next. How our main lead will deal with the hard realities of life is something we can’t wait to see.

Luca Guadagnino also teased that the “Call Me By Your Name” sequel is unlikely to be set in the Italian countryside again, and will instead see the two characters travelling together. They will most likely be travelling around the world, as told by Luca.

But fans can definitely expect more in the future as Guadagnino hinted that, “These characters are so fantastic, and I want to know what happens to them,” Luca is quoted as saying. “Maybe it’s not a question of sequel, it’s a question of chronicling everyone in this film.”
