For Millennials. By Millennials.
Sometimes, the fairy tales that we have grown up listening to do not turn out exactly as we imagined. Gretel and Hansel is one classic example and its trailer is out. The new trailer released for the upcoming horror movie maintains the tradition of the classic tale. Moreover, it is diving deep into a darkness-filled medieval era. Let’s discuss it!
Gretel and Hansel Trailer 2
You can watch the second trailer of the witchcraft classic movie here:
Starring Sophia Lillis (Gretel) and Samuel Leakey (Hansel), this story is one of the most famous among many of us young adults. Arguably everyone has heard of the Hansel and Gretel story way before the trailer. It’s where a boy and his sister get lost in the woods. There, they stumble upon some sweets that lead up to a house made out of food and sweets. An old lady, who owns the house eventually invites them in. She comforts them by letting them stay and eat her delicious food.
Little do the siblings know that the old lady is actually a disguise for a wicked witch who means to eat them. Surprisingly, she is only feeding the kids so that they get fat and juicy for the cauldron she was preparing to dump them in. However, the kids fight back and escape the clutches of the wicked witch by making her trip in her own fire.
The trailer for Gretel and Hansel, however, shows a sinister and dark theme for the story. Although we expect the story to follow the same old classic storyline, anything can be expected from this new version. According to We Got This Covered, the fact that Gretel’s name is ahead of Hansel signifies that the story will probably revolve around the girl more.
The Movie Releases Soon
Even Disney has produced a very dilute version of Hansel and Gretel starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Recent movies by others include an action flick called “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”.
While all this is fine, we would not have to wait long to see how the story is tweaked as shown in Gretel and Hansel’s poster and trailer. That’s because the movie was released on January 31st, 2020.
