For Millennials. By Millennials.
It’s been a big night at the Dolby Theatre but it was not a night without surprises. So let’s talk about the biggest Oscars 2023 Snubs. There were lots to celebrate at the 95th Academy Awards, especially Ke Huy Quan‘s wholesome acceptance speech.
It was a year of inclusivity and a much-needed appreciation and acknowledgment for artists from across the globe as well as the stories with immigrant characters front and center.
There were however a few unexpected wins in the Oscars 2023 winners list and some fans think their favorites were robbed of their Oscars. We wanted to know what they were talking about so we did a deep dive into this year’s biggest snubs. So, without further ado, let’s get right to it.

Snub Number 1: Elvis
Despite being a fan favorite, the film failed to take home any Oscars despite being nominated in a whopping eight categories. This was a major disappointment for fans and critics alike who were rooting for it to take home multiple awards.
While the lack of awards might have come as a shock to many, it was particularly surprising in categories like sound and editing where the film’s innovative techniques and impressive design really shone through. As avid movie-goers ourselves, we couldn’t help but feel like the sound design was truly remarkable and deserved recognition.
Ultimately, although the film may not have won any Oscars and is a big one on the list of Oscars 2023 snubs, it still holds a special place in the hearts of many. Its ability to captivate audiences and tell a meaningful story is a testament to the talent of the filmmakers, actors, and crew involved in its creation.
It is understandable, given that the film stood against giant releases from major motion picture studios and terrific performances. Austin Butler seemed to be a good sport about losing his best actor spot as he cheered on Brendan Fraser as he received his trophy. Good on you, Elvis… I mean, Austin.
Snub Number 2: The Banshees of Inisherin
If we’re talking about Oscars 2023 snubs, how could we forget our favorite Irish film? Well, it looks like The Banshees of Inisherin might have to settle for critical acclaim and audience adoration, as it failed to take home any Oscars despite being nominated in an impressive nine categories. But that doesn’t mean the film didn’t leave a lasting impression on those who watched it.
With its stellar cast and witty script, The Banshees of Inisherin had us hooked from the get-go. We laughed, we cried, and we felt like we were right there in the middle of the action. It’s rare to find a film that can evoke such a wide range of emotions, but this one definitely hit the mark.
Nonetheless, Brendan Gleeson seemed not bothered by the lack of wins, nor did Colin Farrell.

Snub Number 3: Avatar 2
So, it seems that James Cameron decided to give the Oscars a miss this year. Maybe he’s a bit of an award-show veteran at this point – after all, he’s been nominated four times before! We can only speculate on why he decided to skip the ceremony, but perhaps he just wasn’t feeling the vibe this year.
And let’s face it, the results weren’t exactly what Cameron would have been hoping for. Despite its massive box office success and critical acclaim, “Avatar 2” only managed to take home one award – for Best Visual Effects. Don’t get us wrong, that’s still a pretty impressive feat, but we can’t help but feel a bit disappointed for Cameron and his team.
But hey, at least he can console himself with the fact that he’s in good company. Even some of the biggest names in Hollywood have missed out on the Oscars in the past. And who knows, maybe Cameron is just one of those people who prefers to focus on the creative process itself, rather than the awards that come with it.
In any case, we’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment in the “Avatar” franchise, regardless of whether it racks up a ton of awards or not. After all, Cameron is a true master of his craft, and we’re always excited to see what he has in store for us next.
Snub Number 4: The Fablemans
We love Stephen Spielberg. He is responsible for producing and directing some of the greatest on-screen adventures that have become household names, whether it be Back to the Future or the Indiana Jones series. Over the years though, the Academy has not shown him much love.
This year, his picture was nominated for 7 categories. It was a film that was Spielberg‘s tribute to motion pictures and his love for making them. The film ended up winning no Oscars. In the list of Oscars 2023 snubs, this is a huge one. Spielberg was not unnerved. We loved that he was encouraged by films like Avatar and Top Gun being included. His love for motion pictures shows no discrimination based on genre. We are with you, Stephen!
The Fablemans taking home zero Oscars is definitely high on the list of Oscars 2023 snubs. Well, those were our picks for the Oscars 2023 snubs. Despite some major snubs, we can’t deny that it was a wild ride. From the red-carpet fashion to the unexpected wins, we were definitely entertained.
But let’s be real – the Academy doesn’t always get it right. Sometimes our favorite films and actors get snubbed, and that can be frustrating. But don’t let that dampen your love for the movies! We all have our own tastes and preferences, and that’s what makes the film industry so diverse and exciting.
So let’s raise a glass to the movies that touched our hearts, made us laugh, or kept us on the edge of our seats. Whether they won an Oscar or not, they made an impact on us, and that’s worth celebrating. And who knows? Maybe next year’s Oscars will be even more outrageous – we’ll just have to wait and see.
In the meantime, keep on watching, keep on loving, and keep on fighting for the movies you believe in. After all, there’s nothing more powerful than the magic of cinema. Now let’s stop thinking about Oscars 2023 snubs and celebrate the winners because this year’s winners deserve all the love.
