Vampires vs. the Bronx is an upcoming horror-comedy film showing a group of brave teenagers protecting their homes by adopting certain unconventional methods. In the trailer, these New York teens set to fight an army of bloodsuckers that descend to their borough.
This horror movie finds creepy fanged monsters out in the night when a group of people start to go missing. Is it the Vampires or is it something more ominous at work? According to the official synopsis of the movie:
“When gentrification from an unlikely and deadly source creeps into the Bronx, a group of teenage friends rally to save the beloved local bodega and fight against a supernatural force intent on taking over their home at all cost.”
A teen is seen talking to another in the trailer saying:
“Yo, check out the courthouse.”
When the second kid points out:
“They’re turning it into apartments?”
And the third adds:
“Y’all know how this starts, with white people with canvas bags. That’s always the first sign.”
Blaise Hemingway and Oz Rodriguez director and writer of the ‘Playmobil: The Movie and The Wire: The Musical’, wrote the script for Vampires vs. The Bronx. Oz Rodriguez was also the director of the movie. The previous films that he directed include ‘The Last Man on Earth’, ‘A.P. Bio’, ‘Shrill’, and segments of ‘Saturday Night Live’.
All generations have had their fair share of “regular kids fight against the dark, dangerous, unknown outside forces” films. Movies like ‘Fright Night’, ‘Monster Squad’, and ‘Attack the Block’ are strong examples of how things can still work out well if executed properly. In this movie, director, Oz Rodriguez is interested in focusing on bringing the horror and comedy together and throwing in a dash of social commentary.
Bert Hamelinck, Lorne Michaels, Michael Sagol, and Erin David are the producers of the film, Vampires vs. The Bronx. Whereas the cast includes Vladimir Caamaño as Papo. Jaden Michael as Miguel Martinez. Gregory Diaz IV as Luis Acosta. Gerald W Jones III as Bobby Walker. Coco Jones as Rita. Adam David Thompson as Alexis.
The film is scheduled to be released on the 2nd of October this year on the streaming giant, Netflix.
