For Millennials. By Millennials.
On May 4th, 2020 Star Wars officially brought the Skywalker Saga to a close as the season 7 of animated series The Clone Wars ended. As fans celebrate Star Wars Day today, one question arises amidst all this: Will there be The Clone Wars season 8? By the end of Revenge of the Sith, we know a few remaining Jedi sought refuge in the far corners of the galaxy to escape Vader’s fist and his hunt. This also includes former Jedi and once padawan Ahsoka Tano and Anakin’s trusted 501st Captain Rex. [SPOILER ALERT]
What Gives Rise To The Clone Wars Season 8 Discussion?
For one, season 7 of The Clone Wars series goes beyond Order 66. Yes, Captain Rex and Ahsoka crash land their star destroyer onto a moon, but they leave after Ahsoka bids farewell to the fallen 501st troopers present inside the ship. We later see a newly formed Anakin, or Darth Vader, finally find the ship and with it, he sees Ahsoka’s lightsaber which he gifted to her. So, what happened? How did we go from this to Star Wars Rebels?
Next, the final season of The Clone Wars was much shorter than the previous seasons. This means that the story was compressed and a lot of details were dropped. Perhaps The Clones Wars season 8 can cover these forgotten stories. For example, it was only through comics did we find out how Darth Maul escaped Sidious’ capture. Perhaps if we can see more of the creation of Death Star? Lucasfilm doesn’t seem like revisiting these stories, but they do hold some demands.

Finally, season 8 of The Clone Wars can also talk about Ahsoka Tano and her journey later. We know she survived the Galactic Civil War and she is alive even after the events of Return of the Jedi. Apparently, she undertook a quest to make a journey to the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy. Plus, Star Wars creators are also focussing on her story once again, for example, by bringing her back for The Mandalorian. Perhaps season 8 of the animated show can cover her story in this way?
For now, we may do as much wishful thinking as we want. Unfortunately, this is the end.
I want so much to see in a series what Ahsoka Tano and Rex did after the events of Clone Wars Victory and Death: how Gregor and Wolffe had their chips removed, present in their heads used to trigger Order 66, and how they ended up with Rex on Seelos aboard an AT-TE; when and how Ahsoka met Bail Organa and Hera Syndulla; what Ahsoka did with his other lightsaber; what Barriss Offee has become: if she saw Ahsoka again and after having reconciled, sacrificed herself to save her life; Maul fighting Darth Vader; how Maul got his new lightsaber; if Ahsoka has seen Riyo Chuchi again.
If they make a Star Wars series on Ahsoka Tano, I hope so much that the story of this character begins when she leaves the Jedi order, and that it is shown what she has become until events from Clone Wars Gone With A Trace: if after leaving the Jedi order, she reviewed Barriss Offee and spoke with her after discovering her betrayal, in order to reason with her and eventually reconcile.
I would like to see in a series what Ahsoka did after being saved by Ezra Brider in Star Wars Rebels “A World Between Worlds” until she finds Sabine Wren to go to the research by Ezra Bridger “Family Reunion – and Farewell Part II”.
I look forward to seeing Ahsoka with Sabine on their quest to find Ezra Bridger.
I want so much to see Ahsoka meet Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, the ghosts of the Force of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, and see Lux Bonteri as well as Trace and Rafa Martez.
I would so much like to see Mace Windu in an episode of a TV series following Star Wars III Revenge of the Sith after his character survived his fall (as long as we are shown how the jedi master survived his fall after being sent out the window by Darth Sidious), like Luke Skywalker, after Darth Vader cut off his right hand in Star Wars V The Empire Strikes Back.
I would have liked Ahsoka Tano to become a Jedi again after Luke Skywalker’s founding of the new Jedi order, as that would mean that her pain when she left the Jedi order during the Clone Wars is well healed. Indeed when she left the Jedi order, she was very upset because she had lost confidence in the Jedi who had not believed in her innocence (with the exception of her master Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi) even after they recognized their wrong and offered to reinstate her.
