Ozark’s Julia Garner thanks co-stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney after winning Emmy

Ozark’s Julia Garner won her second Emmy award in a row on last Sunday evening. She won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Ozark. Julia played the character of Ruth Langmore in the Netflix hit series, Ozark. Winning this award was not easy because of her strong fellow nominees such as Laura Dern for Big Little Lies, Helena Bonham Carter for The Crown, Meryl Streep for Big Little Lies, Samira Wiley for The Handmaid’s Tale, Sarah Snook for Succession, Fiona Shaw for Killing Eve and Thandie Newton for Westworld.

When receiving the award, Julia Garner highlighted how thankful she is to all the women in the category by saying:

‘First, I’m shocked, to be honest – I want to show gratitude to all the women in this category – you are the reason why I’m acting in the first place, so thank you.’

She also thanked co-stars and main leads of the show Jason Bateman and Laura Linney for:

“bringing me under your wings and not only teaching me how to be a better actor but a person.”

It’s amazing to see how strong Julia’s bond is with her co-stars from Ozark. She even added this message in her acceptance speech:

“Laura I love you so much.”

Julia Garner wrapped up her speech with an encouraging note in the middle of a tough period. She said:

“Let us try to make this world better. There will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

Julia Garner’s look for the evening

Although, this year the Emmy Awards were a virtual affair, that did not stop Julia Garner from bringing out her excellent attire. With the help of Elizabeth Saltzman, the stylist to the stars, the actress appeared ravishing in a top to bottom Chanel look.

Involving silky satin top and wide-leg trousers and completing it with lashings of pearls. Her outfit definitely stole the show and won serious style points.

A graceful vest like Julia’s would make a refreshing add-on to any closet as it could be worn day or night. We think hers would look terrific with high-waisted jeans and heels!

The first Emmy

The 26-years old actress took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series Emmy Award for her role as Ruth Langmore in Netflix’s Ozark in 2019 as well.

She spoke with Gold Derby last year about playing Ruth, young actress, Garner said:

“The thing with Ruth is she’s so complex and I think that’s what I love so much about this character. And why I wanted to play her, how complex she was. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to play Ruth. But yeah, the writers are so good at planning things out. The writers are great at writing and making the characters evolve, in a way. I feel like great writing or great acting and great art, is it is not the characters, it is the person. People evolve and people change and just like Ruth. Ruth is going to evolve, just like all the other characters.”
