Johnny Depp is no longer going to be portraying the dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts film franchise. This announcement was made by the actor himself who took to Instagram to share a short note.
“I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts.’ And I have respected and agreed to that request,” he wrote.

Johnny Depp’s exit from the film franchise came days after he lost his libel case against The Sun. He had sued the British tabloid for publishing an article in 2018 alleging that he was a “wife-beater.”
Despite losing the libel case, Johnny revealed that he plans to appeal the ruling.
Warner Bros. confirmed Johnny Depp’s departure. They also announced that the role of Grindelwald will be recast and the new installment in the series will release in the summer of 2022.
“Johnny Depp will depart the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date,” a spokesperson for the Warner Bros. said.
However, according to Variety, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor might be replaced by Mads Mikkelsen in the upcoming film. Warner Bros. are trying to recast the role as soon as they can so that the film stays on schedule.
Fans React To Johnny Depp Being Asked To Resign From Fantastic Beasts 3
So naturally, the fans of the Harry Potter spinoff franchise were not happy about the actor’s unfair exit from the movie. While most think Mads Mikkelsen would be good in the role. They believe it was unfair to ask Johnny to resign in the first place.
If Johnny Depp isn’t in #FantasticBeasts3 I will not watch it. Y’all cancelled the victim.

Johnny Depp (unjustly) lost his case against the Sun and within the same week he was asked to resign by Warner Bros.
It’s been almost a year since the audio tapes of Amber Heard admitting to abusing him leaked and she has yet to face ANY consequences.

I think that is enough to show you who the public is standing with Johnny Depp’s battle against Amber Heard.
Not only are fans sticking up for Johnny Depp but they are also demanding that Amber Heard be removed from the projects she is doing. Just like he was. Even though there is evidence that he was a victim in the whole scenario.
