How Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met and fell in love

It is no lie that when we talk about the power couples in Hollywood, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds sure pop up in all our minds. The duo has been together for a decade now. But what we want to know is how this fairytale started. Was it ‘love at first sight’? Or did it start from a joke shared between two BFFs? We sure wanna know it all, so, let’s dive right into it.

It all started back in 2010 when both Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds played the love interests in the movie Green Lantern. But both the actors were committed at the time. Blake Lively was in a relationship with Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley who is also known and recognized for his role as ‘Lonely Boy’ and ‘Dan Humphrey‘. And Ryan Reynolds was happily married to Scarlett Johansson. Still, the two actors connected immediately and became good friends.  A year later when Ryan divorced Scarlet. And Blake was also single at that time, so the two decided to go on a double date with other people.

Ryan spoke to Entertainment Weekly‘s SiriusXM show and said:

“We were buddies then. I remember it was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and we were both single. We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl.”

He added:

“That was the most awkward date because we were just like fireworks coming across. It was weird at first, but we were buddies for a long time. I think it’s the best way to have a relationship is to start as friends.

Blake and Ryan’s Surprise Wedding!

But these two were sure up to something. Because they ended up getting married secretly at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in September 2012. Blake was seen praising her husband and sharing that she has not been happier. In an interview with Allure She said:

“Right now, I’m so peaceful. I’ve never been happier in my life.”

The couple attended the Met Gala together in 2014 looking as refreshing as ever. Ryan and Blake are now parents to three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty Reynolds.

Divorce Rumors

Their ‘happily ever after’ left everyone in awe. Even though the two are perfect but the rumors that both are maybe headed for splits do tend to surface from time to time. When back in 2018 a lot of rumors about their divorce were circulating on the internet.

Fortunately, they were all nothing but rumors. As Ryan shut them down quickly.
