Charlize Theron Denies Being Engaged to Sean Penn

It has been five years since Charlize Theron and Sean Penn ended their relationship. While both have moved on in their lives since people are still talking about their relationship. Recently, Mad Max actress denied being engaged to Mystic River actor.

A Timeline of Their Very Public Relationship:

Although they had known each other for twenty years, the pair did not start dating until 2013. Funnily, they both won their first Oscars, Charlize Theron for Monster and Sean Penn for Mystic River, on the same night in 2004. The pair welcomed 2014 together in Hawaii. Soon after, the rumors of their engagement started circulating. While Penn was ready to walk the aisle a third time, Theron wasn’t sure. In an interview, she said:

“Let’s put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress. And as you get older, you start sifting through the stuff that really matters.”

After appearing on many red carpets including Met Gala and Cannes, the pair broke up in 2015.

Recently, Charlize Theron cleared the rumors of her engagement with Sean Penn.

While promoting her new Netflix film, The Old Guard, on The Howard Stern Show, Charlize Theron talked about her potential engagement. She denied the news and said:

“What? That’s not true. no. I did not ‘almost get married to Sean’, that’s such bulls—. No, we dated, that was literally all we did, we dated.”

Furthermore, she said:

“It was a relationship, for sure. We were definitely exclusive, but it was for barely a year. We never moved in. I was never going to marry him. It was nothing like that.”

When Stern asked if she would ever marry, Charlize Theron said:

“I never wanted to get married. That’s never been something that’s important to me. On the lives of my children, I’ve never been lonely. I’ve never felt alone.  My life right now just doesn’t allow a lot of room for something like that to happen. But in saying that, there’s not this thing that drives me [to have a romantic relationship].”

It seems that Theron has her hands full with her career and her two kids.
