Regarding The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, you’re either Team Zack or Team Cody. Although she works with Cole Sprouse, Riverdale’s Camila Mendes is on the opposite team.
Before starring in the same show, Riverdale’s Camila Mendes and Cole Sprouse went to college together.
Although her parents belong to Brazil, she grew up in Florida. However, Riverdale’s Camila Mendes graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 2016. Her co-star, Cole Sprouse, also graduated from the same university. The same year, Mendes was cast in the TV show Riverdale as Veronica Lodge. Based on Archie Comics, Riverdale revolves around high school students, including Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica. Her character is a wealthy socialite from New York and becomes friends with Betty, Archie, and Jughead.
Although she gained popularity from Riverdale, Mendes has faced racial prejudice in Hollywood
When talking about her difficulty finding work, Riverdale’s Camila Mendes has been very open. Although she identifies as Latin American and speaks Portuguese fluently, Mendes has been told that she does not look Latin enough. In an interview, she said:
“I really appreciate how these two cultures created who I am. I am a Brazilian of blood, with all the extended family of Brazilians, but I was born and raised in the United States. When I go to Brazil, I feel like an American, and in the United States, I always realize the traits that make me Brazilian.”
While she works with Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes is not on Team Cody
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dylan Sprouse celebrated the 15th anniversary of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. He shared how the show saved him and his brother. He said:
A lot had happened in our lives that was difficult then and this show, in a way, saved us. 1000 years of gratitude to all involved.
While many celebrities and fans commented, Camila Mendes also left a comment which read: #teamzack. Dylan Sprouse played Zack. Despite working with Dylan’s brother, Cole, it seems Mendes was more inclined toward Dylan when she commented, “#teamzack.”
After this comment, the Sprouse brothers might have had a tiff.
