Taylor Swift took to her Instagram account to announce that she has made a song for her favorite book, now been turned into a film. She wrote:

I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side. i wrote the song “Carolina” alone and asked my friend @aarondessner to produce it. I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story. You’ll hear it fully soon.

Furthermore, Delia Owens showed her appreciation to Taylor Swift by writing a letter and posting it on her Instagram. It reads:

Dear Taylor, thank you for the stirring yet sensitive theme song you wrote and sang for the Crawdads movie. I cannot imagine a more perfect tribute to Kya’s story than your voice drifting forever through the marsh.

Everything wrong with Delia Owens and her Husband

Fans, in the beginning, loved to know about this new Taylor Swift song until they found out about the problematic past of Delia Owens. In 2010, an article was written in New York Times about Delia and her husband’s time in Africa. One of the most predominant questions asked in the article was ‘Did American conservationists in Africa go too far?’ Apparently, this family was involved in a death of an unidentified victim. In 1995, there was also a film aired on television about this couple. Delia’s husband Mark did not have much to say about the death when he was asked. He had said:

But that’s the reality. It’s ugly why? Is it ugly because of the elephants? They haven’t done anything wrong. It’s people who make it ugly.

Furthermore, it has also been noticed that they have a problematic way of seeing Africa. On their website, they have called Africa a ‘Dark Continent’ which is obviously racist, discriminatory, and ignorant to state. It is the reason why Taylor Swift has been receiving criticism for supporting Owens.
