Last year, Logan Paul moved to Puerto Rico, and people were unhappy. Although he has always been one of the most disliked YouTubers, his move worsened. According to the locals, he is a colonizer who wants to avoid taxes. This is also one of the reasons why the YouTuber decided to change locations. Recently, the locals of Puerto Rico again labeled him a colonizer, and people agreed with the term.
Last year, Logan Paul announced his move to Puerto Rico.
After gaining a fan following on Vine, Jake and Logan Paul started their YouTube journey. While they did become famous in record time, not all of it was positive. In 2018, the elder Paul brother came under fire for posting a video of a dead body in Japan’s Aokigahara forest. Last year, he announced that he might be moving to Puerto Rico. While talking about it, Logan Paul said:
“I thought it was more third world than I suspected. So I went out there to scout it and I just fell in love with it. Obviously, I’m impulsive, and I trust my gut, my instincts. I feel like it’s the closing of a chapter and the opening of a new one.”
Similarly, his brother, Jake Paul, announced that he would move to Florida.
Although his move is not the issue, the reasons behind it made people angry.
While his move is not the issue, Logan Paul moved to Puerto Rico to avoid taxes. During an episode of ImPaulsive, he detailed all the reasons why he is leaving LA. He said:
“The streets are not fixed, homeless people everywhere, a dearth of employment, Covid not handled.”
According to Puerto Rico’s Incentives Code, foreigners can live in the country for six months per year and would not have to pay higher income taxes than the locals. Through this law, wealthy Americans enjoy a holiday lifestyle all year round. Therefore, Logan Paul moving there made many of the locals very upset.

Recently, the locals labeled Logan Paul as a colonizer, and people agreed.
On social media, a poster of Logan Paul is making rounds. A local from Puerto Rico has put up posters of the ImPaulsive host, saying that this is how a colonizer looks. Since the picture went viral, people have been sharing their thoughts on it, and most agree. According to one person:
Anyone who doesn’t get it needs to look up how bad the housing crisis is for people who have lived in Puerto Rico all their lives.
Meanwhile, another said:
Because he is. There’s a major housing crisis on the island for natives thanks to ppl like him
Another person agreed about Logan Paul being a colonizer and said:
He is definitely a colonizer, Puerto Rico is going through a really bad crisis of gentrification, poverty, etc. and everything thanks to colonization and white gringos that thinks that we are their property. PUERTO RICO ES DE LOS PUERTORRIQUEÑOS #GRINGOGOHOME
One local from Puerto Rico shared their honest thoughts about his move.
Needless to say, Logan Paul is not wanted there at all.
Despite the heavy criticism, Paul and his friends frequently post vlogs from their country visit. Similarly, he has not responded to the backlash.
