For Millennials. By Millennials.
Rapper Lil Tay’s fans are appalled and concerned for her safety after the recent news of her alleged abuse at the hands of her father surfaced on her Instagram account. Several posts had been posted on @liltay over the weekend with the hashtag #FreeLilTay, claiming that she was allegedly abused by her estranged father – Christopher John Hope.
It’s thought that posts are made by ‘a former anonymous associate’ of Lil Tay’s who claims to have been a witness to said events.
These abuse claims have not yet been verified.
Lil Tay’s Controversial History
The antics of the pre-teen ‘flexer’ have gotten her into a lot of trouble in the past few months.
The situation was so aggravated that Lil Tay’s mother, Angela Tian was fired from her job as a Vancouver real estate agent. She was criticized for exploiting her daughter for fame and money. Things escalated even more when it was revealed that Lil Tay was an ordinary child acting the part of a ‘gangster kingpin’ and claiming to be a ‘Harvard dropout’; while the reality was far from it.
After much backlash, her Instagram account was wiped clean of all of its controversial content in June. Lil Tay soon disappeared off of social media after becoming an instant viral star. There was speculation for a while that she was planning to make a comeback starring in her own docuseries. However, that didn’t come to fruition after Lil Tay was court-ordered on June 3rd to go live with her father, Christopher John Hope after her mother, Angela Tian lost custody.
Recent posts on Lil Tay’s Instagram account claimed that she was banned from using social media by her father so she wouldn’t ‘expose him’. She is now currently living with him in South Surrey, British Columbia. Mr. Hope claims that he has the ultimate power in all legal decisions regarding his daughter.
#FreeLilTay
On the 21st of October, Sunday – Lil Tay’s Instagram account had some startling news *all posts have since been removed by Instagram*.
According to Lil Tay’s representative – Chris Jones, someone hacked her Instagram account for the second time. No one has access to it at the moment. Mr. Jones also declined to make a comment regarding the abuse allegations.
However, the content of the posts seems to spark extreme concern for Lil Tay’s safety.
After posts began appearing on Lil Tay’s Instagram account, four months after everything on it was deleted; it was not the return fans had been anxiously waiting for.
The posts paint Lil Tay’s father and his current wife, Hanee Vega, in a very negative light and have not yet been verified by authorities as being true. The posts talk about how it was difficult for her to be in her father’s home.
It states that Christopher John Hope had threatened to have Tay’s mother, Angela Tian arrested and sued, and have Lil Tay placed in foster care if she did not obey the order. The next few posts claim that Mr. Hope abandoned his family and is now coming back to ‘drag Lil Tay down’ so that she can help assist their lavish lifestyle.
The anonymous associate asks Mr. Hope to leave Lil Tay and her mom, Angela Tian, alone and advices him to carry on with his own life.
Shady Instagram Account
A new private Instagram account has popped up on the horizon as well after the hashtag #FreeLilTay began to trend.
As a bystander @freeliltay__ looks really shady to me.
With the description:
“ #FREELILTAY®

300,000 FOLLOWER REQUEST ONLY ACCEPTING NEXT 21 FOLLOWERS
**********ONCE YOU UNFOLLOW YOU WONT BE ACCEPTED AGAIN*********** ”
It makes you wonder who would sink so low that they would consider gaining followers by exploiting minors’ alleged misfortunes. The account has already amassed a following of 279k followers and is only following two accounts at the moment.
Lil Tay’s father, Christopher John Hope Issues A Cease And Desist To Instagram
Lil Tay’s father is taking legal action after getting numerous death threats due to the #FreeLilTay posts on Instagram.
Christopher John Hope believes that Lil Tay’s brother, Jason Tian is the person behind the allegations. Mr. Hope believes that Jason Tian has gained control of Lil Tay’s Instagram account. And that he is encouraging others to ‘conduct criminal extortion and harassment’.
Lil Tay’s father is an attorney in Canada. He has stated that he has a court order that gives him ultimate power in legal decisions regarding his eleven-year-old daughter, Claire Hope a.k.a. Lil Tay.
In the cease and desist, Christopher John Hope states that the content of the posts is ‘patently and provably false and is outrageously defamatory’.
He believes that at present Instagram is a party to those offenses by continuing to host the account. Mr. Hope claims that the posts have resulted in death threats and threats of bodily harm against him.
