The highly successful, but controversial, Netflix Polish film 365 Days is set to get two sequels in the future. The movie debuted on the streaming platform last summer. And due to its huge success, Netflix is willing to make two 365 Days sequels, hoping the capture similar attention from the audience, despite the original film caused.

Netflix has plans for 365 Days sequels!
In the proposed sequels, lead actors Michele Morrone, Magdalena Lamparska, and Anna-Maria Sieklucka will reprise their roles. Furthermore, model/actor Simone Susinna will join the cast as Nacho and Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes will return as directors.
The premise of the sequel, according to the books, states that Laura and Massimo reunite but their reunion is made complicated by Massimo’s family ties and a mysterious man who enters Laura’s life. This man is trying to win her trust as well as her heart at any cost. Unlike 365 Days, the sequels will be original Netflix productions. Therefore, they may adopt some caution in the graphic scenes, unlike the original film.
Łukasz Kluskiewicz, Netflix’s Content Acquisition Manager of films for CEE and Poland, told Deadline about the 365 Days sequels:
365 Days was one of our most popular films for our members in 2020. We’re working closely with Blanka Lipinska, the author of the 365 Days trilogy of books and writer of the film, to continue Laura and Massimo’s story on screen. Their journey together is full of many twists and turns as our characters continue to grow and learn more about themselves.
Furthermore, the Author Blanka Lipińska talked about the sequels, that would make 365 Days a trilogy, saying:
I’m hugely honored that the remaining two parts of my 365 Days trilogy – This Day and Next 365 Days – will be brought to life on screen by Netflix. I’m so excited to show fans of my novels all over the world this fresh look at the characters and to (further) Laura and Massimo’s story.
The controversy around 365 Days
365 Days caused a lot of controversy among critics, who claimed that the movie romanticized sexual assault and the Stockholm Syndrome. In fact, there were around 95,000 signatures to have the movie removed from the streaming platform. Most notably, singer Duffy wanted the movie taken down and penned a letter directly to Reed Hastings. Duffy herself experienced a kidnapping that lasted four weeks when she was drugged and raped.
However, despite the backlash, the movie amassed huge numbers, reaching the top 10 list in more than 90 countries. Moreover, it was the fourth most-searched movie on Google in 2020. And in response to these numbers, Netflix kept up with its policy of responding to viewers’ watching statistics. We don’t have a release date for the 365 Days sequel yet.
