We’re finally getting a Community movie. It all started out as an inside joke between the show and its dedicated fanbase, then it became a prophecy. Abed chanted ‘Six Seasons and a movie’ and with that, the Community franchise’s fate was sealed. We already had six glorious seasons, but you can only re-binge-watch so much. Now, we get new content in the form of a movie! The news came out a couple of weeks ago and here is everything we know so far about the Community movie release date.
The Community Movie Release Date
As of now, nothing has been confirmed about the exact release date of the movie. The movie was only confirmed to be happening but there’s been no timeline that has been set.
It might take a year or two of production before we hear anything else. So, the Community movie release date will most likely come somewhere between late 2023 and early 2024.
Moreover, the Community Movie will be a Peacock original so it’ll be available to stream on that platform.
Who will be in the Community Movie’s cast?
We would love to have all of the original cast (Jeff Winger played by Joel McHale, Britta Perry played by Gillian Jacobs, Annie Edison played by Alison Brie, Troy Barnes played by Donald Glover, Abed Nadir played by Daniel Pudi, Shirley Bennett played by Yvette Nicole Brown, Dean Pelton played by Jim Rash, Chang played by Ken Jeong, and Pierce Hawthorne played by Chevy Chase).
But the only ones that are confirmed seem to be Joel Mchale, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Daniel Pudi, Alison Brie, and Ken Jeong. Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown left the show around season 5 and Chase left earlier than that.
We did have new interesting characters join the cast, but the true magic of the show was encapsulated by the original cast. So, we are really hoping we can get to see them all again.
The plot of the Community Movie?
Knowing the creator of the show, Dan Harmon, the movie’s plot could go in any direction. The show was known to push boundaries and use ground-breaking comedy devices to entertain its viewers. We can expect nothing less from the movie.
Perhaps the movie’s plot will revolve around the gang coming back together to save their community college, Greendale. Or it might be to help one of their old friends who is facing a difficult slump.
