Chris D’Elia addresses scandals of sexual misconduct, publicly!

In Friday’s video, D’Elia appeared for the first time on his YouTube channel since his last podcast on June 5th, 2020. After 8 months, he has finally broken his silence, admitting in the video:
I know it’s been a really long time since you’ve heard from me, and when the news broke I put out a statement that said everything I’ve done is legal and consensual, and that’s true, and I wanted that statement to speak for itself. Um, and I wanted to talk immediately. I wanted to post online, I wanted to do my podcast business as usual. But, I thought that might no be the best thing. What might be the best thing would be if I just take this time to be with my family, try and take a long, hard look at myself.
After months-long hiatus, Chris D’Elia persists that all of his relationships with women have been consensual as well as legal, saying
I do know how it looks with all the stuff that’s been said, I know it looks bad, and it doesn’t show the full scope of what happened. I stand by the fact that all my relationships have been consensual and legal. That’s the truth.
However, D’Elia has realized that he had a problem, that he was obsessed with having intercourse with women. He continued:
I have come to understand is this was always about s*x to me. S*x, it controlled my life, it was my focus all the time. And I had a problem, I do have a problem… I need to do work on that.
He apologized
Furthermore, he apologized for his behavior and how he treated intimacy as casual. Chris D’Elia continued:
I thought in my mind that being straight up with these women was the right thing to do. I’d say he come to my hotel room and let’s have s*x, let’s make out. And that was what I thought was right. I realized through all of this that doing that is just treating s*x like it’s casual… and that’s not the guy I wanna be. It’s not okay and I’m sorry for that. It makes me feel shameful and it makes me feel bad.
The allegations
Back in June, multiple women accused Chris D’Elia of sexual misconduct, with some accusing him of soliciting underage girls. Furthermore, two women came forward against D’Elia in August, alleging that the comedian exposed himself in front of them in 2011 and 2018 respectively. At the time, D’Elia released a statement, saying:
I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point. All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.
