For Millennials. By Millennials.
Bill Maher didn’t tread lightly, despite the recent accusations of sexual harassment against him. On his show Real Time with Bill Maher, the comedian makes fun of and attacks Tara Reade and her sexual assault allegations on Joe Biden. This comes after a time when Rose McGowan accused her of sexual harassment.
Bill Maher makes fun of Tara Reade and her sexual assault allegation
People are noticing a media bias in favor of Joe Biden, despite the recent allegations leveled on him by Reade. Alyssa Milano continues to support him, and so does Bill Maher by the looks of it. After Biden came out and denied her sexual assault allegation, it looks like Maher decided to make fun of it. He largely decided to ignore the allegations on his show. You can say that it’s more appropriate to say that he laughed her allegations off as a joke.
He only brought Tara Reade’s sexual-assault allegation into light only once in a question to Eric Holder. Maher thought that it was:
ridiculous and that it would go away and no one would pay any attention to it.
Moreover, Bill Maher even questioned whether it was even “appropriate” to bring Tara Reade’s allegations into the discussion, considering that America was going through COVID-19. Normally, comments like these would spark outrage on the internet. However, Bill Maher already has a shady track record when it comes to the #MeToo movement, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.
He isn’t well acquainted with #MeToo
A few days ago, Rose McGowan accused Bill Maher of Sexual Harassment, yet he and HBO haven’t made any comments on the allegations. However, that isn’t the only time Maher has had a shady record with the movement. Previously, he has even defended Joe Biden and attacked Tara Reade and other accusers, saying:
But you know, we’re getting a little nitpicky. I mean, of course no one likes to be touched unwantingly, and women get a lot more of that than men, but the first person who brought this up said he made her feel ‘gross and uneasy.’ You know what makes me feel ‘gross and uneasy?’ A second Trump term. He’s not Harvey Weinstein or R. Kelly—he’s more like the TSA. And it’s getting ridiculous. A woman who came forward today said she was touched by one of his speeches.
There is indeed a media bias in the reporting of Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden. Bill Maher and other comedians on the left showed absolute outrage over sexual assault/harassment allegations on Donald Trump. However, they aren’t as vocal against Joe Biden. This not only reinforces Trump’s rhetoric of the media working against him but is also unfair for Tara Reade.
