Noah Cyrus apologizes for using Racial Slur to Defend Harry Styles

Singer Noah Cyrus is now apologizing for using a racial slur in her social media post while defending Harry Styles. She posted on her Instagram story to support Harry Styles after his controversial Vogue photoshoot. However, in doing so, Cyrus used a racially sensitive word and is now apologizing for it.

Noah Cyrus uses a racial slur while defending Harry Styles

Harry Styles recently became the first solo male cover star of Vogue, donning a Gucci jacket over a dress. After the photoshoot, conservative author Candace Owens shared a picture of Styles from the movie Dunkirk, with the caption “#BBMM,” which stood for “Bring back manly men”.

In her response, the Grammy nominee Noah Cyrus then shared one of the pictures on her Instagram story, with the title:
he wears this dress better than any of u na*py a*s heau*z.

As a result, Noah Cyrus faced a lot of backlash for using a racially sensitive word “nappy,” which historically referred to natural black hair textures. Immediately, Cyrus got a lot of stick for using the word. A Twitter user wrote in a long thread, saying:

you yt ppl need to stop using words you hear black ppl say……. y’all don’t even be knowing the meaning y’all be saying it just to look cool it’s aggy

After the outrage, Cyrus apologized on Thursday in her Instagram story, saying:
I am mortified that i used a term without knowing the context and history, but I know now and i am horrified and truly sorry. I will never use it again. Thank you for educating me. I in no way meant to offend anyone. I am so sorry.
Moreover, Owens also roasted Noah Cyrus on Twitter while bringing in her sister Miley Cyrus, saying:
Any one of woke liberals care to explain to me how Noah Cyrus calling me a “na*py a*s h*e” is not racist? I’m all ears.
You guys love cancel culture. Miley Cyrus come get your sister!

The beef between Candace Owens and Harry Styles

Apart from Noah Cyrus and Candace Owens beefing with each other, Harry Styles also took shots at Owens. He posted a photo of himself on Instagram from the photoshoot with Variety while eating a banana, saying:

Bring back manly men.

Candace Owens in response said:

When people try to tell me I don’t have influence, and then Harry Styles dedicates an entire post to my tweet.

I inspire global conversation.

Shots fired.

Other celebrities also rush in to defend Harry Styles

Apart from Noah Cyrus, many other stars also rushed into Harry Style’s defense. Logan Paul said in his podcast:

What is ‘manly’ to you? What does it mean? Is manly being comfortable in your own skin and being comfortable with who you are, regardless of what you’re wearing?

Zach Braff also defended Harry Styles, saying:

Our whole lives boys and men are told we need to be manly. Life is short. Be whatever the f–k you want to be.

Finally, his mother Anne Twist also supported his dear son. While talking on the show Lorraine, she said:

I think maybe I had something to do with it. I was always a big fan of doing fancy dress with them when they were smaller, which [Gemma] hated, but Harry always embraced.

Both Noah Cyrus and Harry Styles have been nominated for the 2021 Grammys as well.
