MCU Stars Pay Tribute To Chadwick Boseman

The death of Chadwick Boseman shook Hollywood, social media, and every single MCU fan down to its core. He passed away on Friday, 29th of August 2020, at the tender age of 43 after a four-year-long battle with colon cancer. He was most popularly known for his role as King T’Chala, a.k.a. Black Panther in the MCU. However, that role had a profound effect on popular culture, race relations, and especially Black culture. As a result, tributes for Chadwick Boseman came pouring in from all over the internet. And his MCU co-stars were among them as well.

Within hours of the news breaking on Chadwick Boseman’s official Twitter account, MCU stars lined up in paying their tribute to the late actor. Beautiful messages from Joe and Anthony Russo, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Tom Holland, Taika Waititi, Chris Pratt, Don Cheadle, as well as his Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, Sterling K. Brown, and Andy Serkis came pouring in. All of them with the intension of remembering the wonderful actor and human being that was Chadwick Boseman.
Moreover, the very tweet that announced Boseman’s passing became the most liked and retweeted tweet of all time. This shows just how massive an impact Boseman had, and how deeply affected his fans were on his demise.

Co-stars from Black Panther pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Michael B. Jordan, who played Killmonger in Black Panther, only shared his tribute to Boseman yesterday. However, the words he picked just show what the actor meant to him. Jordan wrote:

I’ve been trying to find the words, but nothing comes close to how I feel. I’ve been reflecting on every moment, every conversation, every laugh, every disagreement, every hug…everything.

I wish we had more time…

Jordan then recalled in his post how Chadwick Boseman helped him in the early days of his career. Moreover, he also talks about the massive cultural impact of Black Panther, and what he meant to the fans. In the end, Jordan says:

 I’m dedicating the rest of my days to live the way you did. With grace, courage, and no regrets. “Is this your king!?” Yes . he . is!  Rest In Power Brother.

Other than Michael Jordan, Angela Bassett, who played T’Chala’s mother in Black Panther, also paid her tribute to Chadwick Boseman. She recalled the day when Boseman escorted her to the stage when she received her honorary degree from Boseman’s alma mater, Howard University. This was long before Boseman rose to stardom! She wrote:

During the premiere party for Black Panther, Chadwick reminded me of something. He whispered that when I received my honorary degree from Howard University, his alma mater, he was the student assigned to escort me that day. And here we were, years later as friends and colleagues, enjoying the most glorious night ever!

Andy Serkis also wrote a befitting tribute to Boseman, saying:

A natural leader who eloquently and passionately seeks and stands for truth, whose art and life will shine as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.

Finally, Sterling K Brown also paid his respects to the actor on Twitter:


Rest of the MCU cast join in

It wasn’t just Chadwick Boseman’s co-stars from Black Panther who felt his loss tremendously. Other major MCU stars were also struck with grieve upon hearing of his demise. Here’s Chris Evans’ tribute, where he wrote how “devastated” he was, but was “endlessly grateful” for his friendship.

Robert Downey Jr. also tweeted a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, saying that he “leveled the playing field while fighting for his life”.

Furthermore, Chris Hemsworth also remembered Boseman, saying that he was “one of the kindest most genuine people” he has ever met.

Mark Ruffalo was especially heartbroken at Chadwick Boseman’s demise. He tweeted how the tragedies of 2020 “have only been made more profound” by Boseman’s death. He further wrote:

It was the highest honor getting to work with you and getting to know you. What a generous and sincere human being. You believed in the sacred nature of the work and gave your all. Much love to your family. And much love from all of us left here.

Furthermore, the Russo Brothers also said a lot of kind words for Chadwick Boseman. They called him an “elegant man with great integrity and tremendous talent”.

Tom Holland also paid a tribute to Chadwick Boseman on Instagram, saying he was “even more of a hero off screen than on”.

Even though Brie Larson worked with Boseman briefly in Avengers: Endgame, he still left an indelible mark on her. She wrote that Chadwick Boseman was “someone who radiated power and peace” and always “stood for so much more than himself”.

Moreover, Zoe Saldana also expressed her sorrow on Chadwick Boseman’s passing. In her tribute, she wrote how hard his death hit her, and that she’ll tell her sons about him forever. Moreover, she also mentioned how Boseman was “one of the classiest men” she ever met, and that he “left a lasting impression” because of his energy that he radiated.

Finally, Chris Pratt, Taika Waititi, and Don Cheadle also wrote brief but heartfelt tributes for Chadwick Boseman.

These tributes are just a glimpse of the massive impact that Chadwick Boseman left in this world. The MCU is indeed never going to be the same without him. However, the way he inspired black people to take a stand for themselves, walking the footsteps of King T’Chala, just show how he was an even bigger hero in real life than he was as the Black Panther.
