In today’s upsetting news, a parenting YouTuber gives up Autistic son who she adopted four years ago. Myka Stauffer and her husband, James Stauffer announced the news in a video. Unsurprisingly, the news did not sit well with people.

Mostly, she focuses on homeschooling tips, home organizational videos, and parenting hack. Although she has four biological children, Myka and her husband decided to adopt another baby. Throughout their adoption process, they kept their followers updated and made several videos. Eventually, Huxley from China became a part of the Stauffer family. After his adoption, Myka also revealed to her followers that Huxley had autism and other developmental disabilities. Since his arrival, Huxley has been featured in many videos as well as crowdfund started by the YouTuber. In many Instagram posts, Myka has described Huxley’s behavior as meltdowns. On the other hand, she also made a video sponsored by Dreft, a laundry detergent. However, after four years, the YouTuber gives up Autistic son.
Recently, the news came out that YouTuber gives up Autistic son.
Along with her husband, Myka appeared in a YouTube video titled ‘update on our family’. In the video, it was revealed that the YouTuber gives up Autistic son and has deiced to rehome him. Candidly, they shared their struggles with Huxley’s disabilities and how difficult the decision was. James Stauffer said:
“With international adoption, sometimes there are unknowns and things that are not transparent on files. Once Huxley came home, there were a lot more special needs than we were aware of and we were not told.”
While holding back her tears, Myka said:
“There’s not an ounce of our body that doesn’t want Huxley with all of our being. There wasn’t a minute that I didn’t try our hardest. Do I feel like a failure as a mom? 500 percent. So when we get insidious, hurtful comments, it really makes it hurt worse.”
The decision of YouTuber giving up Autistic son came after many assessments, evaluations, and doctor’s recommendation. Furthermore, they said:
“He is thriving. He is really happy, doing really well. His new mommy has medical, professional training and it’s a really good fit.”
