The Hunger Games Prequel Movie is confirmed

Are you, are you coming to the tree? Or… to watch the Hunger Games again? Because Hunger Games is not over yet! Yep. You heard it. Hunger Games has another prequel coming as Suzanne Collins publishes her latest novel; The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – A Hunger Games Prequel. The novel will be adapted into a movie, Lionsgate confirms. And with that, our directing team will also be returning. Francis Lawrence, Michael Arndt, and Nina Jacobson will be returning as director, screenwriter, and producer. And we can not wait! But, considering even the book comes in May, there might be at least a year and a half until we get to see a movie. Well, not considering the current uncertain circumstances i.e. Coronavirus Pandemic Lockdowns.

The Hunger Games Prequel – What to expect?

Not to be a total mood killer but, the movie will not have Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence)! The story for the novel is set years before, well, probably even the birth of Katniss. Instead, the Hunger Games Prequel sheds light upon the life of the Tyrannical President Snow. Coriolanus Snow’s entire life is depicted in the novel. It is basically the story of how he came to be the manic we all know and love to hate from the original series. As Suzanne Collins confirms to AP:

The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days – as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet – provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.

So, if any of you remember from the Mockingjay, we learned that the Dark Days were the time of the Civil War between the 13 Districts and the Capitol. So that means this goes all the way to 75 years ago. We hope to see some insight into President Snow. Also, could this prequel mean we are looking at a possible Hunger Games spin-off via this Prequel?
