J.K Rowling’s Heartfelt Tribute To Alan Rickman

Only the other day I was thinking, J.K Rowling really needed to give us a few more books from the series. At least like five more. It just seems unbelievable that the people who were a huge part of our lives growing up aren’t here anymore. Coming from someone who grew up reading and watching Harry Potter, I actually miss it. I miss the magic. The characters. The people. The stories. Even Voldemort. I miss it all.

And apparently, I’m not the only one. Author of the Harry Potter series, J.K Rowling got emotional talking about a certain character. To be fair, talking about that character gets everyone a little choked up.

J.K Rowling’s Tribute To Alan Rickman

I’m talking about Severus Snape, beautifully portrayed by Alan Rickman. However, the actor passed away four years ago, after giving us Potterheads the most brilliant gift that is Severus Snape. Our favorite villain in all eight films.

Three days ago, a Twitter user wrote to J.K Rowling, “Tonight in Italy they air Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2. As always, I’m NOT ready to say goodbye to Severus Snape. Thank you @jk_rowling for this unique character and for convincing Alan Rickman to portray him—we had the perfect Severus Snape.”

To which the fantasy author replied, “In Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, Snape makes his first appearance with his back to the audience. At the dress rehearsal I saw him in his long black wig & my eyes filled with tears because, for a split second, my irrational heart believed when Snape turned around, I’d see Alan.”

The legendary actor passed away from cancer at the age of 69, on January 14, 2016 in London. And after two years of his death, his personal letters revealed he had some frustration with the role of Severus Snape. But frustration or not, his portrayal of that character was one of the most beautiful things about the series. And it is safe to say Alan Rickman left behind a legacy in the name of Severus Snape.
