What to expect from Top Gun: Maverick?
The sequel picks up more than 30 years after the original movie. Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell returns to flight school to train the graduates for a special mission. However, he encounters a ghost from his past. Lt. Brad “Rooster” Bradshaw, son of Maverick’s deceased wingman “Goose“. Moreover, his former frenemy “Iceman” also returns, who is now Chief of Naval Operations. It will be interesting to see the chemistry of Maverick with Iceman. And will Rooster confront Maverick for his father’s death?
Top Gun is synonymous with Tom Cruise. However, Val Kilmer and Ed Harris will also be appearing in the movie. The cast’s acting can only be matched by the beauty of the aerial stunts. Moreover, with a ten-fold budget increase and better technology, we can expect beautiful cinematography from this movie. Moreover, Jennifer Connelly plays Maverick’s love interest in the sequel.
Coronavirus disrupts the entertainment industry:
Top Gun is preserved in the National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant”. It is important to discuss this because movies are not just a two-hour video recording. They are a cultural sensation and narrate different perspectives. That is why the pandemic is deadly for Hollywood. It has robbed thousands of rising actors, singers and others from portraying their talent. Movie delays are costing studios millions of dollars. Almost 7 million people have filed for unemployment. Moreover, it could kill more than a million people. Its consequences will only be understood after this decade.
