The last time we heard from Thomas Shelby and the Shelby Company Limited, things were not looking great. Thomas’ perfectly planned attempt to assassinate the face of fascism, Oswald Mosely is spoilt. In the process, he also loses Aberama Gold, who was to get married to Aunt Polly. With things left hanging, we (the fans and audience) desperately await the arrival of season 6 of Peaky Blinders. But we think that good news has appeared on the horizon as one particular update suggests the release date for season 6.
Peaky Blinder Season 6 Release Date
All credits to director Anthony Byrne who gave us the title of the first episode of Peaky Blinder’s sixth season. He posted a picture of, what seems to be, a script which shows the title “Black Day”. All we can predict for now is that some part of the episode is going to be burying away Aberama Gold and Aunty Polly scenes.
Moreover, this January 26 post also mentions that season 6 is in the pre-production phase. Some would think that this would mean that the show will return by the end of 2020. Unfortunately, Esquire is reporting that the director said:
“…I have no idea when it would be out, maybe early 2021, something like that?”
How Many Episodes Will There Be?
Since the previous seasons of Peaky Blinders all have six episodes each, we expect the same for season 6. As of now, there is no news about changing the number of episodes for the coming seasons. For BBC, they are perhaps seeing more profits coming from streaming, according to what BBC’s content director told Radio Times.
Who’s Going To Return?
Judging by the way season 5 of the Peaky Blinder ended, the sixth season will definitely have the same lineup of the cast. That means, apart from the usual Shelby family, which includes Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson, we will also see Sam Claflin, Helen McCrory, and Finn Cole. Apparently Cole trusts the series writer Steve Knight and says that he would accept if the writer decided to kill his character.
“If he thinks that the character should either die or go, I’m fully on board with it because I know that that’s what’s best for the character. He will have exhausted all of that character’s opportunities.”
What Is Going To Happen In Season 6 | The Plot
According to Knight, season six of Peaky Blinders will be his best season. The coming season will most likely take Thomas Shelby on a mission to hunt down the snitch who took out Gold and failed his assassination attempt on Mosley. Perhaps it’s not even a snitch and a new party that joins hands with Mosley. Who knows?
With the sixth season returning the next year in 2021, perhaps it is time to binge-watch the show for now?
