The upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal production, The Devil All the Time, has a ridiculously star-studded cast. Stars like Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes); who replaced Chris Evans (Captain America), and Robert Pattinson (Batman) make it look like a DC-Marvel crossover. Netflix will release the Antonio Campos directed psychological thriller in 2020.
Jake Gyllenhaal co-production, The Devil All the Time | What is it About?
The Jake Gyllenhaal and Randall Poster production are set in the 1960s. In the aftermath of World War II in Southern Ohio, people are dealing with a mental health crisis. Apparently, there are compelling, bizarre and mentally disturbed people that suffer from the war’s psychological damages (PTSD).
The Devil All the Time is an adaptation of Donald Ray Pollock’s novel by the same name.
Here’s the official synopsis of the Jake Gyllenhaal project:
In a place called Knockemstiff, Ohio, a forgotten backwoods of this country – a storm of faith, violence and redemption brews. Out of desperation to save his dying wife, Willard Russell turns to prayer which succumbs to sacrifice. This sets our protagonist Arvin, Willard’s son, on his path from bullied kid to a man who knows when to take action. The Devil All the Time is a finely woven “mid-western” gothic tale involving a nefarious cast of characters: a serial killer couple, a faith-testing preacher, and a corrupt local sheriff in a story that is told across two decades.
The Amazing Cast!
Jake Gyllenhaal and Campos have teamed-up to give us a killer cast. It will include Avengers: Endgame co-stars, Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan, as well as Bill Skarsgard (It). Other prominent names include Damsel co-stars Mia Wasikowska and Robert Pattinson.
Netflix, Jake Gyllenhaal, and his team later added Sharp Objects star, Eliza Scanlen, and Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert, to the star-studded cast.
The cast, crew and the story of The Devil All the Time, seems quite promising. It might be one of the best movies of 2020. We’ll just have to wait on this one.
