Did Miley Cyrus Throw Shade At Liam Hemsworth And LGBTQ?

Past relationships can be difficult to move on from. Sometimes thoughts cross our mind and we start wondering whether we’ve really moved on or not. Perhaps Miley Cyrus did the same when she was on Instagram Live with her boyfriend, Cody Simpson. While speaking to him, Cyrus could not hold back when bringing up her previous boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth. However, the way she brought it up, was a bit problematic, to say the least.

Miley Cyrus’ Not-So-Subtle Message

On October 20, Sunday, Miley Cyrus was live calling Cody Simpson on Instagram Live and thought to bring up the Hemsworth topic. She said:

“There are good people out there that just happen to have d**ks. I’ve only met one, and he’s on this live.”

However, she continued speaking and said this:

“You don’t have to be gay, there are good people with d**ks out there… You’ve just got to find them.”

Cyrus Wants the World to Know She’s Over Hemsworth

Now, we all know that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth dated and even got married. Unfortunately for them, things did not fall the way they wanted to. After almost a year, they filed for divorce. After that, Miley started dating Kaitlynn Carter. The media noticed well the time they spent together as Kaitlynn was seen wearing a ring that said “M”. They were also pictured being up close and personal with each other.

Miley Cyrus’s relationship ended with Carter in September, after which she found Cody Simpson. Perhaps, all of this is nothing and Miley was simply expressing her love for her new beau and reminding herself not to fall for the likes of Liam Hemsworth.

However, some that Cyrus had a bit of a condescending tone to her voice as she spoke the words “… you don’t have to be gay...”? It’s as if she’s implying that women choose to be gay or part of the LGBT because they can’t find any good guys anymore.

Did The Singer Take a Dig at the LGBT Community?

Here’s what the LGBT community on Twitter thought about it:

Being a queer, perhaps we now expect Miley to be more sensitive towards lesbians, gays and the whole LGBTQ community in general. But this latest incident seems to suggest otherwise.

The singer has made no public apologies or statements as of yet.
