The Regal Snubs Of The Golden Globes 2019: Every Popular TV Player Sits Out

The Golden Globes 2019 nominations list is finally out. And trust me it comes as a bummer for all major TV shows and popular TV characters. For those who cried foul over the Emmys snubs, well they really need to brace themselves for the Golden Globes snubs. If we consider a television awards show in this platinum era of TV , the obvious names that immediately strike our minds include The Handmaid’s Tale, Stranger Things, This Is Us, Game of Thrones, The House of Cards, and The Crown. So here comes the surprise. The Golden Globes have royally missed out on all of these magnum opera, listing only a few in the void like categories. Let’s take a quick glimpse at all the devastating Golden Globes 2019 snubs.

The Games of Thrones and The Crown obviously sit out because of their extended seasonal breaks. However, the remaining biggies have been snubbed by the Golden Globes 2019 in a startling plot twist.

Winner Last Year, Worse Than A Loser This Year: Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale at Hulu has swept multiple awards at the 2017 and 2018 Emmys. The Handmaid’s Tale also grabbed the award for the best drama series at the Golden Globes last year. Although the season 2 of the show did not exactly garner the same critical acclaim as the first season, it was still a highly brilliant show. For this reason, the The Golden Globes 2019 nominations list dropping out this dystopian drama is no less than shocking.

Golden Globes Snubs: No Place For Robin Wright

Post the exit of disgraced actor Kevin Spacey from the Netflix political thriller House of Cards, its last season failed miserably to bring in cheer from critics. Its lead star Robin Wright; however, nailed her performance as the first woman to find a seat the Oval Office. Not only did she display an unexampled dominating gravitas, but she also put forward a show of such political wit that she actually outshone her former cos-tar. While it is foreseen that the upcoming Emmys would refuse Wright her parting prize, it was highly predicted that the Golden Globes 2019 will give Robin Wright her well deserved award. The Golden Globes 2019 nominations list sadly omits every mention of the House of Cards. The absence of Robin Wright from the nominations list is perhaps one of the worst Golden Globes 2019 snubs.

Golden Globes Snubs: Where Is This Is Us?

This Is Us was a Globes regular for the past two years and a winner with Sterling K. Brown. This year too, fans were counting on Milo Ventimiglia to secure a place in the Golden Globes 2019 nominations list. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the year for the NBC blockbuster. A real snub and surprise indeed. No seriously, Wtf.

Wait! Not Even Atlanta

Atlanta was literally the top contender for the Emmys 2018. The show losing to the newcomer Barry was startling enough for its ardent devotees in September. And now this major Golden Globes snub has completely twisted the wires in my brain. HFPA did not visit the second season of FX series, and I don’t think got there is any sound explanation for this matter. The Golden Globes did; however, feature Donald Glover in the category for the best actor in a comedy series.

The Golden Globes Nominations List Misses Out On Westworld, Better Caul Saul, And The Conners

The cataclysmic Golden Globes 2019 snubs also include Better Call Saul, Westworld, Evan Rachel Wood. They had each turned in splendid content and performances. While the Golden Globes did honor Candice Bergen for her returning role as Murphy Brown, The Conners and Roseanne; however, could not get Globe nods. While The Conners does fall short of Roseanne’s ratings, the cast including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert manage to pull off marvelous performances. These maestros deserve the limelight the Golden Globes 2019 Nominations list is depriving them off.

Golden Globes 2019 Snubs: Patrick Melrose And Maniac Fail To Click As Limited Series

The Limited Series section was also full of surprises. The series featuring Cumberbatch as a titular character, Patrick Melrose, lost its spot to the highly mediocre ‘The Alienist’. Neither Emma Stone, not the psychological dark comedy Limited series ‘Maniac‘ was able to make it to the Golden Globes 2019 nominations list. Kt is needless to say that it was indeed the limited series category that was most profoundly affected by the Golden Globes snubs.

Debutantes were generally well received at the Golden Globes 2019 nominations list. Yet, the highest rated Netflix show The Haunting of Hill House remained absent in all categories. The nominees held Amazon galore. The Marvellous Mrs Maisel scored multiple nominations. Moreover, the podcast based series, Homecoming also found a place in the best drama series category.
