Among the many problematic trends that have occurred on Twitter, this has got to be on the top ten list. The #RIPAddisonRae starts to trends on Twitter as the rumor gets more and more attention on the social media platform. Even though Addison Rae is very much alive and healthy, the rumor still spread and started to worry people. She was also present on a live-stream while the trend started so it was obviously false. While it was happening, Addison Rae deactivated her Twitter account.

Why did the #RIPAddisonRae trend start?

It’s still unclear at this point but many people like to spread negativity and tweet out hateful comments about popular TikTok stars. The D’Amelio sisters, Charli and Dixie are no stranger to that as they get a lot of hate comments online, something that definitely affects their mental health.

Similarly, Addison Rae receives a lot of hate comments online, especially Twitter. Some of it criticism on her new song debut ‘Obsessed’ and some of it is simply people hating her for the sake of hating. The negativity and toxic nature of social media reached to an extreme height when a misleading hashtag started to trend on Twitter. The #RIPAddisonRae implies that Addison Rae has passed away but that is not the case.

Even though many were admitting their dislike for the TikTok star, they still pointed out how wrong it was to start such an outrageous hashtag just because you don’t like someone.

Ultimately, Addison Rae ended up deactivating her Twitter account.

Moreover, there are also people saying that Addison Rae was live on her Instagram while this trend was taking place. She has not addressed this as of yet. There is currently no evidence that Addison Rae’s life is in danger in any way. Hopefully, it’s only a crazy rumor and hashtag with no truth.

There was drama going on between Bryce Hall and Addison Rae

Bryce Hall recently shaded Addison Rae for blocking and unblocking him constantly. Recently, Bryce Hall posted a picture with popular adult star Lana Rhoades when he appeared on her podcast. Rae ended up blocking Hall after this picture was posted.

There was definitely some drama happening between Bryce Hall and Addison Rae, it might not be the reason for this hashtag. It may have to do with Rae’s recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon.

When Addison Rae made her musical debut with her song ‘Obsessed’, she was brought on the Jimmy Fallon show to perform the song. Moreover, there was also a TikTok dance segment where she danced out popular dance moves. Though, this segment brought in a lot of controversy to Addison Rae and the Jimmy Fallon show because most of the dances were created by black TikTok stars. They were credited in the description box for the YouTube video but many still called out the segment for not giving black TikTok content creators the platform they deserve.

At the time, Addison Rae responded to the controversy

“I think they were all credited in the original YouTube posting, but it’s kinda hard to credit during the show. But they all know that I love them so much and I mean, I support all of them so much. And hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together.”

She also said that she was speaking to The Tonight Show about what had happened. Moreover, she added that she wants to collaborate with the creators of these dances.

“Ever since the beginning, I’ve been talking to most of them and definitely want to collab with a lot of them. Hopefully, once the world opens up, we can all meet up and do something together, because it’d be so much fun.”

Jimmy Fallon responded to the controversy by bringing in the original content creators for his show which many called the right move.


But still people piled on more hate for Addison Rae and believed she was racist. They also criticized her for not wearing the right mask during the pandemic:

Despite the criticism or personal dislike for a content creator, it truly does not make sense for you to wish death upon them and start a false hashtag to spread toxicity. Hopefully, Addison Rae is safe and well.
