Prince Andrew served with sexual assault lawsuit by accuser Virginia Giuffre in US, as Princess Beatrice welcomes Baby Girl
Prince Andrew, the disgraced son of Queen Elizabeth II, has been served with the papers of a sexual assault lawsuit. The accuser is Virginia Giuffre, who filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan. Her lawyers sent the civil lawsuit to the prince’s Los Angeles-based lawyer Andrew Brettler. And all this happened as the Prince’s daughter Princess Beatrice was celebrating the birth of her baby girl.
The Lawsuit against Prince Andrew, explained
Giuffre’s lawyer served Prince Andrew’s representatives in LA with the papers on Monday, delivered both through email and FedEx. As a result, the Duke of York now has 21 days to respond to the lawsuit or he would receive a default judgment. Giuffre’s lawyers also claim to have served Prince Andrew in England previously. Giuffre sued the Prince under New York’s 2019 Child Victims Act. It allows survivors of childhood abuse to sue their abusers many years or decades after the incident occurred, beyond the statute of limitations. The email read:
Pursuant to Judge Kaplan’s September 16, 2021, order granting Plaintiff’s motion for alternate service (attached), I am serving by email the Summons and Complaint in the above-captioned matter on you in your capacity as counsel for the Defendant, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.
On the other hand, Prince Andrew’s representatives have denied Giuffre’s claims and that the Prince has not been charged with any crime previously. As to this letter, Brettler has not responded to any questions by any news outlet.
The accusation against Prince Andrew is that he forced Virginia Giuffre to sleep with him when she was underage. The incident happened at the home of Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime associate of convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Moreover, that was not the only unpleasant encounter Giuffre claimed to have with the Prince. She also claims the Prince abused her in Epstein’s mansion in Manhattan and on his private island in the US Virgin Islands.
The Prince is furious with his lawyers and wants them fired
Since this lawsuit surfaced, reports have emerged that Prince Andrew is having a ‘crisis talk’ with his family and advisors over the fiasco around this case. So far, every attempt by the Prince’s legal teams to deflect having the official papers served have been a disaster. It is such a disaster for the accused that even Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is presiding over this case, told Prince Andrew’s attorney:
Let’s cut out all the technicalities and get to the substance.
Moreover, Prince Andrew has not been the only high-profile case associated with Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton also had a strong acquaintance with the deceased socialite, who committed suicide in prison. However, no one has accused the former US President of any wrongdoing as of now. On the other hand, Bill Gates also admitted to befriending Epstein, and this was one of the reasons why his marriage with Melinda Gates broke down, according to reports.
