Joe Rogan has COVID But his treatment Is Leaving Health Experts Sick
So, Joe Rogan has COVID-19 and he has caused quite a stir on the internet. The UFC commentator and Martial Arts expert has a past of controversial comments related to COVID-19 vaccines. But now, he himself has tested positive for COVID-19 and is taking a treatment that is quite controversial among health experts.
Joe Rogan has a history of having controversial opinions on COVID-19 and vaccines
It’s not a secret that Joe Rogan is a bit of a skeptic when it comes to COVID-19 vaccines. In an old podcast episode dated 23rd April, the JRE podcast sparked controversy when he said young healthy people don’t need to take COVID vaccines, saying:
If you’re, like, 21 years old, and you say to me, should I get vaccinated? I’ll go, ‘No’… If you’re a healthy person, and you’re exercising all the time, and you’re young, and you’re eating well, like, I don’t think you need to worry about this.
After the outrage, Joe Rogan had to clarify his remarks in his next podcast, admitting that he is a “moron” and to never trust his words since he often doesn’t agree with himself. Furthermore, he said he was “not an anti-vaxx person”. However, his reputation was tainted ever since. Now, months later, it seems like Rogan is still standing by his stance on vaccines.
Now, the famous podcast host has tested positive for COVID-19 but is taking ivermectin, a drug that the CDC does not approve of for COVID treatment
The podcast host revealed that he had COVID in an Instagram post on Wednesday, but that’s not all he told his audience. Even though Joe Rogan admitted to not being an expert on health, he is willing to try every supposed cure under the sun, except the vaccine itself. In the post, he said that he had “immediately thrown the kitchen sink” at his infection. He took multiple medications, including ivermectin, which is a drug used against parasites in humans and livestock. If this were an isolated incident, then it wouldn’t have been worrisome. But considering that he has tens of millions of followers, out of which many are already anti-vaxx, it will only further alienate those people from taking vaccines.
Furthermore, Joe Rogan also mentioned that his treatment included monoclonal antibodies as well. And it is important to note that the FDA has urged people not to take Ivermectin as well as the monoclonal antibody treatment. The FDA has repeatedly told not to take the animal version of the drug, as it could result in nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders, and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization.
Naturally, when Twitter got a hold of this news, they couldn’t resist poking fun at Joe Rogan. Even celebrities couldn’t resist.
That said, there were a fair number of people siding with Joe Rogan too. As always, the famous podcast host continues to be a divisive figure.
