The Suicide Squad Director hints another Surprise character May have survived
The 2016 Suicide Squad is often hailed as one of the worst superhero films ever made. And with 2021’s The Suicide Squad remake, Warner Bros. tried their absolute best to rectify their mistakes. And it looks like they finally got it spot on, with James Gunn at the helm. This was because DC finally understood what Marvel has always gotten spot on – good characters. Unfortunately, the audience had to saw many of their loved characters die in The Suicide Squad. However, James Gunn has recently given them hope that one of their beloved characters might have survived!
From Nanaue to the Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher 2, The Suicide Squad basically made every character likable and relatable. And that is the secret behind the success of the film. Peacemaker and Bloodsport were also welcome additions to the film. The movie truly never took itself seriously and understood the crazy concepts it was exploring, which is a speciality of Gunn. We’ve seen him do the same magic with Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU as well.
James Gunn reminds viewers that The Detachable Kid (TDK) survived The Suicide Squad
And now, James Gunn teased on Twitter that we might see one character return. He recently tweeted, saying that we could see TDK (The Detachable Kid) return in the future because technically he never died in The Suicide Squad. He tweeted, while tagging the actor Nathan Fillion:
Important to note if you look at the life signals in the Comms hub TDK isn’t dead
TDK was exactly as weird as he sounds. He could detach his arms and then control them to… slap his enemies. Of course, it didn’t end well for him since the Corto Maltesian army riddled his arms with bullets. But, we never really saw him die in the film. So, a return is completely on the table. Moreover, Peacemaker (John Cena) is getting a spin-off series of himself in 2022 on HBO Max. Therefore, even if your favorite character died in The Suicide Squad, chances are they could make a comeback. So, all the fans of the Polka-Dot Man or Rick Flag, don’t lose hope just yet.
Elsewhere, our review of The Suicide Squad explored how good the characters were in the movie. And although we didn’t put a lot of focus on TDK, we did praise David Dastmalchian for his exceptional performance as the Polka-Dot Man. A character that sounds nothing less than a meme got exceptional character depth because of how relatable it was to him personally because of his skin disease.
