Dr DisRespect is suing Twitch after finding the reason why they banned him
It has already been a year since Dr DisRespect was banned from Twitch. Not only that, Twitch did not even give any valid reason. However, the streamer has revealed that he knows why he got banned. On top of that, he is all set to sue Twitch and get compensation for the damage he had to face.
Despite being a world-renowned streamer, Dr DisRespect has had his fair share of controversies
Initially, he began posting videos showing gameplay of Call of Duty. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that Dr DisRespect was really recognized in the streaming community. This led to him getting sponsorship deals with Gillette, ASUS, Roccat, and Game Fuel. In March 2020, Dr DisRespect signed a deal with Twitch. Despite the fame and recognition, Dr DisRespect could not run away from controversies and backlash. From racial comments to violating rules set by Twitch, he has been under fire multiple times. At the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, he started spreading conspiracy theories about the virus. This led to a lot of backlash from his fellow streamers and other blogs.
After only two months, Twitch permanently banned his account in June 2020.
Without giving any valid reason, Twitch banned Dr DisRespect’s account. Although many claimed that they know the reason, it was only speculation and rumors. Dr DisRespect himself had no idea why he was being treated like that. At that time, Twitch only released the following statement:
We take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.
Recently, Dr DisRespect revealed that he knows the reason now and will be suing Twitch
During a recent YouTube broadcast, he called the ban a roller coaster of emotions. At the same time, Dr DisRespect disclosed important information about his ban. He said:
There’s a reason why I don’t talk about it, I can’t talk about this kind of stuff. A lot of people ask ‘Do you know the reason?’ Yeah, I do know the reason why now. I’ve known for months now.
Furthermore, he shared that he will take legal action against Twitch and said:
There’s a reason why, and I’ll just say this right now champs — there’s a reason why we’re suing the f**k out of em, ok? I don’t know how else to put it, the amount of damages, and you just don’t… nah.
If he manages to win the lawsuit, it would be a huge success for Dr DisRespect. However, it would be interesting to see how Twitch responds to it.
