It has been three years since Marvel fans saw the last Avengers film, Avengers: Endgame. And looking at how the movie ended, many fans were skeptical about Avengers 5 and whether they would see another ensemble of Marvel’s superheroes trying to save the Earth (and beyond). However, their fears are unfounded as Marvel boss Kevin Feige has given the fans some idea about when Avengers 5 would be released!

While talking to Collider, Feige revealed that the MCU is going to go through a completely “new saga”. And they’re doing so by revealing an entire new list of heroes. However, to establish them well in the MCU and intermingle them with other existing MCU characters, it will take a few years. Furthermore, Marvel wants there to be a decent amount of time between Avengers 5 and Endgame. That is why one can expect a more than expected time for Marvel to release the fifth installment of the Avengers. Feige did not give an expected time of arrival for the film, but made his point clear that:

I think we want there to be a reasonable amount of time from the Endgame to start a new saga, which is already underway and already started. And then you need time, as you did in Phase 1, to build that saga before you start bringing everyone together.

The best way to look at what to expect from Marvel is to see how they’ve managed Avengers in the past. The first Avengers film came almost 4 years after Iron Man. Then, it took 3 years for Avengers: Age of Ultron to hit the theatres, followed by Infinity War three further years later. Endgame is the only movie in this list which was released only one years after its predecessor. And we all know the reason for that aberrant release time. Therefore, Marvel would want to compensate for that difference by giving an ample space between Endgame and Avengers 5.

This will achieve two purposes. It would give Marvel ample time to establish Phase 4 of the MCU, as they need to introduce a LOT of heroes. Secondly, and more importantly, it takes time for a franchise to recover after losing the most important crop of their heroes. It’s not easy to replace Captain America, Iron Man, and their colleagues. Therefore, instead of replacing the actors, they decided to replace the characters with other likable ones. And Marvel by now is an expert as that. However, it would need time for them to assemble another team for Avengers 5.

Therefore, despite the passage of two years, Marvel fans shouldn’t expect Avengers 5 at least until 2024. But, that’s just my estimate. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below.
