Michael Keaton talks about his return as Batman in ‘The Flash’
Batman is a role that many iconic actors have donned over the years. One of them is undoubtedly Michael Keaton, whose Batman (1989) is one of the most iconic renditions of the character. And that is why many DC fans were absolutely hyped when they found out that he will be reprising his role as the caped crusader in the upcoming The Flash movie. Now, the actor has opened up about what he felt when he returned to Gotham for one last dance.
Keaton played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns (1989) and the sequel Batman Returns (1992). Since then, almost 29 years have passed and now he is going to have one last time alongside Ezra Miller in The Flash, a follow-up to Justice League. And that’s exactly what he talked about in a recent interview. Putting the costume on after 29 years must have been a strange feeling, that’s what we think right? But for Michael Keaton, it just felt too familiar. So familiar, in fact, that it felt weird to him. While taking on Jake’s Takes, the 69-year-old talked about his experience on his return, which was like he never left the franchise. He said:
Like I went, ‘Oh, oh yeah, that’s right.’ But also then you start to play the scenes and a lot of memories, a lot of interesting sense memories [come back].
However, Micheal Keaton has not revealed if he would use his iconic line “I’m Batman” in the movie again. Apart from that, the interviewer asked him if he had talked to Tim Burton about this exciting project. To that, Keaton said he couldn’t:
But just because we’ve got other stuff to talk about.
How The Flash will incorporate Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as Batmen
Michael Keaton is not going to be the only batman in The Flash. We will also be seeing Ben Affleck reprise the role too. But, how is Gotham going to have two Batmen (I know, it’s silly)? Well, we don’t know the exact plot, but fan theory suggests that the movie will follow the Flashpoint comics crossover to facilitate them. Apart from these two actors and Ezra Miller, the movie’s cast includes Maribel Verdú, Sasha Calle, and Ron Livingston. They will be playing the roles of Nora Allen, Supergirl and Barry Allen’s dad Henry. Moreover, we’ll be seeing Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Barry’s love interest. She is the girl that Miller’s Flash saved from the accident in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The movie is set for release on November 4, 2022.
