When Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky affair came out, it shook the foundation of American politics.

At the age of 22, Monica Lewinsky had an affair with the then President of the United States. During his presidency, Bill Clinton did more than just run the country. The affair took place between 1995 and 1998. Initially, Lewinsky confided in Linda Tripp, who was a civil servant at that time. When Tripp found out about Bill Clinton’s affair, she urged Lewinsky to start gathering evidence. Not only that, but she also recorded her conversations with Lewinsky. Later, this evidence led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton. At the same time, the media went berserk and it became one of the most famous cases in the 90s. The scandal had many names like Monicagate, Lewinskygate, Zippergate, and Tailgate.

In the next season of American CrimeStory, Bill Clinton scandal will be portrayed

If anyone could make a solid show on it, it would be Ryan Murphy. However, he did not want to do it alone. During a party, he met Lewinsky herself. While talking to her, he expressed his wish to make a show based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book, A Vast Conspiracy. The book is based on the infamous 90s scandal. However, Murphy made it clear that he wants Lewinsky to be a part of it too. While talking about it, he said:

I told her, ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.’

The cast of Impeachment includes Clive Owen as Bill Clinton and Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky. Other cast members include Sarah Paulson and Annaleigh Ashford. The show will premiere on September 7th.

Despite the negative public image, Monica Lewinsky has never let it define her

At the moment, she is a prominent activist and TV personality. Now she can add producer to her resume as well. While talking about the show, she said:

People have been co-opting and telling my part in this story for decades. In fact, it wasn’t until the past few years that I’ve been able to fully reclaim my narrative; almost 20 years later.

Furthermore, she said:

I’m so grateful for the growth we’ve made as a society that allows people like me who have been historically silenced to finally reintroduce my voice to the conversation. This isn’t just a me problem. Powerful people, often men, take advantage of those subordinate to them in myriad ways all the time. Many people will see this as such a story and for that reason, this narrative is one that is, regretfully, evergreen.

While Lewinsky is fully involved with the show, it would be interesting to see what Bill Clinton thinks about it. Surely, the show will create a lot of buzz.
