Hugh Jackman got a skin biopsy and doesn’t want to be photographed for a few days
A few days ago, Hugh Jackman posted on Twitter to update his fans about his health. After he noticed something irregular, he got a skin biopsy. This was to rule out anything serious and be on the safer side, just in case.
Since he has a history of skin cancer, Wolverine star is very vocal about regular check ups and protecting your skin
Earlier this week, he posted a video on Twitter where he shared about going for a skin biopsy. During the video, he can be seen wearing a bandage on his nose and talking about using sunscreen. He said:
The doctors saw something that was a little irregular, so they took a biopsy and they’re getting it checked. They think it’s probably fine. But remember: Go and get a check and wear sunscreen. Don’t be like me as a kid, just wear sunscreen.
Furthermore, Hugh Jackman also added that if you see him wearing a bandage on his nose, do not freak out. In 2015, he talked about growing up in Australia and mentioned how he spent most of his time outside with his siblings. According to him, he grew up playing in scorching Australian heat but rarely wore any sunscreen. Therefore, he always urges everyone to use it regularly.
So far, Hugh Jackman have received six operation for skin cancer
Although its the least dangerous kind of cancer, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) produces cancerous cells on the surface of the skin. The best treatment is surgery which can remove the cells. However, if you leave it untreated, it can spread to the other body parts as well. Hugh Jackman has had six operations for BCC. In 2013, his wife, Deb, urged him to get a growth checked and it turned out to be cancer. His last operation was in 2017. Because Hugh Jackman has had first-hand experience, he always urges his fans to get routine checkups and wear sunscreen. In an interview, he said:
So here’s the thing. One sunburn, you’re susceptible to cancer. One. And all of this is 25, 30 years after, the doctor told me. Our rule, as kids, growing up, as you get burned and peel two or three times, then you’re set.
On the acting front, Hugh Jackman is all set to return to Broadway in a revival of The Music Man as well as in a film called The Son, alongside Laura Dern.
