Emilia Clarke talks about role in Marvel series Secret Invasion
The days of Game of Thrones are long gone, as Emilia Clarke is all set for her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut! She is set to make her debut in the MCU in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion. However, as the name of the series suggests, the details are largely unknown. Now, the 34-year-old has finally given us a glimpse of her role.
Emilia Clarke confirms her role in Marvel’s Secret Invasion
In Secret Invasion, Clarke will be teaming up with Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, who’ll play Nick Fury and Skrull Talos respectively. Moreover, reports say that Marvel also hired the services of Peaky Blinders star Kingsley Ben-Adir and Olivia Colman. At first, there were only rumors of Clarke’s appearance. But now, she has confirmed her role while talking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. There, she revealed just how secretive Marvel is with their shows, saying:
I’m pretty sure we can say it’s called Secret Invasion, but I’m already scared. The first people I spoke to from Marvel were their security team and I’m convinced there’s a man outside my house — there’s been a car parked there for a long time — and I swear to god, he’s undercover.
Like the name of the show suggests, Secret Invasion is indeed quite secretive. But, no project can be too big for Emilia Clarke, considering that she portrayed one of the most popular characters in TV history – Daenerys Targaryen. Sure, her end might have been controversial, but that did not take away anything from Clarke’s performance throughout the 9 seasons the show ran. However, life goes on and so have both Clarke and Game of Thrones.
Game of Thrones after Daenerys
Now, HBO has planned multiple prequel and spin-off series, putting in place a Game of Thrones universe inspired by George RR Martin’s work. While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Clarke praised the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire author, saying:
It’s just inevitable. I wish you all the best, it’s gonna be whatever it will be, but of course, they’re doing more. You can’t create something that big and not have people go, ‘And? What else? This is really good! Let’s do loads more!
The audience can expect to see House of the Dragon in 2022, a story of House Targaryen and their rule on Westeros. Furthermore, there will be a show called 10,000 Ships as well, which will entail the story of Queen Nymeria and the Rhoynar. However, we don’t have a debut year for that series. As far as seeing Emilia Clarke in them is concerned, it looks unlikely. But, you never know. HBO could have a flashback in mind for her.
