If you’re a Game of Thrones shill, then we have got some bad news for you. One of the proposed Game of Thrones spin-off series Flea Bottom has been canceled by HBO. The series was going to narrate life in the most populous slums in all of King’s Landing, which is home to one of the most diverse populations in Westeros. But, fans will not get to see such a wonderful multiplicity in Westeros.

Game of Thrones spin-off now canceled

Many who have watched Game of Thrones are definitely aware of the place called Flea Bottom. Two very prominent characters from the show, Ser Davis Seaworth and Gendry, were brought up in the slums of Flea Bottom. And it is an important part of their upbringing, shaping a considerable part of their characters. With the Flea Bottom series, HBO wanted to give us an intimate look at the lifestyle of the ordinary Westerosi, something we hadn’t seen exclusively in Game of Thrones.

However, it looks like HBO put the ax on this Game of Thrones spin-off. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that HBO has put the series to a halt.

Why did HBO cancel Flea Bottom?

As far as the reason is concerned for the cancelation, THR reports that HBO was never really serious to give Flea Bottom a serious chance. It was merely in its “nascent” stage and HBO quickly put it to an end. However, that does not mean fans of the seven kingdoms will be starved of content.

In fact, HBO is going full steam ahead with one official Game of Thrones prequel, with another one proposed. House of the Dragon will air next year and focus on the Targaryen dynasty, particularly the Targaryen civil war that included epic dragon battles. And it will feature a mega cast, including Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Olivia Cooke, Graham McTavish, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Lastly, ‘Hardhome’ and ‘Battle of the Bastards’ director Miguel Sapochnik will be at the helm of the show. And Ramin Djawadi will again enchant us with his magic in the sound department.

Furthermore, HBO is also thinking of a prequel 10,000 Ships, which will narrate the story of Nymeria and her voyage from the Rhoynar to Dorne, which formed House Martell. However, we don’t have much information on it and it could fall victim to the same issues Flea Bottom did. A lot of these ideas depend heavily on the success of House of the Dragon. So, a lot is at risk for HBO right now. If it goes well, we could very much see a Game of Thrones universe!
