Jake Paul has recently had beef with the legendary professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather. But, it looks like their fight will not be happening. Jake is currently gearing up for his fight with Tyron Woodley soon though, which is soon to happen on 29th August. However, the fight with Mayweather looks extremely unlikely, according to Jake himself.
Jake Paul is a YouTuber turned boxer, just like his elder brother, Logan Paul. There was a Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather press conference in May where Jake stole the spotlight by stealing Mayweather’s hat. After the press conference, there has been some beef going on between the two, as the retired boxer did not forget the disrespect he received from the Younger Paul brother. Jake thought it was just harmless banter but it turned into something big as Floyd said that it was disrespectful. Mayweather further promised to dish out Jake if he did not stop messing with him. But, there were a few conditions. Floyd said in an interview with Rob Moore about the prospective fight that there are a few weight restrictions that Jake has to comply with first, saying:
Jake Paul talked about me and him fighting in a real fight. If it’s a real fight, then I’ll go down to my real fighting weight class, which is 147 pounds or 154 pounds. If Jake Paul can come down to 154 pounds, then we can see his skills.
Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather’s fight is not happening!
After Floyd’s statement, Jake is not too sure about him fighting the boxer anymore, saying that it’s unlikely for him to be seen in the ring with Floyd anytime soon. Floyd did have a boxing match with Logan Paul, so the idea of Jake fighting him was not as far-fetched. But, As Paul announced on his social media that he will be fighting Tyron Woodley on 29th August, he also mentioned Floyd in his interview after his press conference with MMA champ Tyron Woodley on July 13. Jake Paul said:
I don’t think it’ll happen. He wants me to cut down to 147 lbs, and then he’ll fight me. So, before he fought my brother, we were ‘fake fighters.’ And now, he will only fight Jake Paul if I cut to 147 lbs, which is physically impossible for me to cut that much.
Fans of Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather were quite excited to see both of them in the ring but I guess they are going to be disappointed now. There is no possibility of two of them stepping in the ring at the same time anytime soon. But who knows what the future holds, right? You can watch his press conference below:
