No, this is not a dream. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is really coming back for an eighth season. MARK YOUR CALENDARS. The final and eighth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will premiere on August 12th 2021. It was a rough year for the fans of Brooklyn 99 because Dan Goor (the co-creator of the show) announced in February that this will be the final season of the show. Not going to lie, this news was hard on us too. I mean, none of us want the show to ever end, do we? But all good things have to come to an end. We have all heard people say that too much of a good thing can ruin it so why not enjoy while it lasts.

Goor said

Ending the show was a difficult decision but we felt that it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers

Moving on to the good news. Melissa Fumero posted a picture on Twitter with Terry and Captain Holt and captioned it “Ba ba ba back in the Nine Nine!!!”.

The show faced many difficulties during these two years because of COVID-19. There was a major delay in production and scripts too. But we’re glad that after all the difficulties the filming has resumed again. Melissa returns as Sergeant Amy Santiago, Andy Samberg returns as the same beloved character aka Jake Peralta and we all love Captain Holt, don’t we? AND the giant Terry as well!

Brooklyn Nine Nine faces Backlash

Brooklyn Nine Nine also faced backlash after the killing of George Floyd by the police. The show announced to donate 100,000 dollars to the National Bail Fund Network for those who took part in the protest. Joe Lo Truglio who plays Charles Boyle on the show and co-creator Dan Goor said that the next and final season will be addressing issues of police brutality and systematic inequality. The actor also added that they dipped their toe in water with more social issues. Like Rosa’s bisexuality and Terry’s racial profiling so it was easier for them to have a conversation about Black Lives Matter.

The actor added:

We have shown that we can do comedy but we can also tackle those big issues too

Let’s see what the final season has in store for us.
