The Duke and Duchess of Sussex called for Coronavirus vaccine equality, saying that developing countries should also have equal access to the vaccine just like those in the developed world do.

On their website, Harry and Meghan emphasized that vaccination is yet to even start in many developing and poor countries. They mentioned how the return to normalcy in their countries is nowhere to be seen in the rest of the world. The pair said:

While some places are on the verge of healing, in so many parts of the world, communities continue to suffer. As of today, around 80 percent of the nearly one billion COVID-19 vaccine shots that have been given were administered in wealthier countries. While we may feel that normalcy is around the corner, we remind ourselves that in much of the world, and especially in developing countries, vaccine distribution has effectively yet to start.

Later on, they highlighted how the only way to defeat COVID-19 once and for all is COVID vaccine equality. Harry and Meghan continued:

We will not be able to truly recover until everyone, everywhere, has equal access to the vaccine. And with that intention, we are inviting you to contribute whatever you can—if you have the means to do so—to bring vaccines to families in the world’s most vulnerable places.

Lastly, the Duke and Duchess used their own platform to ameliorate the vaccine situation in poor countries. For each $5 donation, their charity will administer 4 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in these countries. They further said how this is the most appropriate way for them to celebrate their son’s birthday:

We cannot think of a more resonant way to honor our son’s birthday. If we all show up, with compassion for those we both know and don’t know, we can have a profound impact. Even a small contribution can have a ripple effect. Together, we can uplift, protect, and care for one another.

Other than the COVID vaccine, Harry and Meghan Markle also thanked the public for their warm wishes, saying:

We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday. Many of you donate to charities on his behalf, and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service—all through the goodness of your hearts. You raise funds for those who need it most, and continue to do so organically and selflessly. We remain incredibly grateful.

Even though he has spent most of his life living away from his royal relatives, the British Royals did not forget their little relative in America. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, both wished Archie from their official Twitter account. They did so with a picture of his private Christening by the Archbishop of Canterbury, which included his parents Harry and Meghan as well:

Furthermore, the Queen also wished her great-grandson Archie Mountbatten-Windsor through the Royal Family account:

Apart from the wishes, there have been a lack of pictures of Archie on the internet. Meghan Markle has rarely let him make any public appearance, with his last one at his first birthday. The one exception was Sussexes’ first podcast for Spotify in December last year. That was when everyone heard Archie with an American accent.
