Lil Xan Creating a Mac Miller Tribute Album
Inspired by Their Last Conversation
Lil Xan can’t imagine letting the memory of his favorite idol, Mac Miller die. The Sound Cloud rapper is reportedly working on a tribute album to Mac Miller. In a tragic incident, Miller died at 26 years old on Friday, Sept. 7 following a reported overdose.
Xan Cancels Shows to Work on Album
According to TMZ, Lil Xan canceled five of his upcoming shows because he’s been busy recording songs for the project, titled ‘Be Safe’. The title were Miller’s last words to Xan. TMZ reported,
“We’re told Xan’s been working nonstop on it — if he wasn’t onstage somewhere, he was in the studio trying to perfect the project — and, at this point, he just feels burnt out,”
The canceled shows were in Texas and the Midwest, and will be rescheduled.
Mac Miller’s Last Words to Lil Xan
After Mac Miller’s death, Xan even said that he considered retiring from music.
“When your hero dies, f*ck that shit, I don’t want to make music no more,” he stated on the ‘No Jumper’ podcast. “[The last time we saw each other] he was like, ‘Be safe.’ People say that, you know, like, ‘Be safe.’ But he grabbed me, and he pulled me back and he was like, ‘No, I mean be safe. That almost made me cry, that’s my idol right there.”
It’s heartbreaking to see what the death of one individual could do to hundreds of others. It’s especially worse when it’s due to something like drug overdose or suicide. The damage it causes is similar to a ripple when a pebble is thrown in a river; the water circles out as an effect of just one pebble. It’s brave that Lil Xan has chosen to deal with the tragedy surrounding Mac Miller by creating something beautiful out of it. Not many people are able to do that.
The album ‘Be Safe’ and the meaning behind it will mean a lot to anyone who knew or followed Mac Miller. Lil Xan hasn’t revealed a release date for the album yet. But we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
