Oscars 2021 Winners: Who won and who lost at the 93rd Academy Awards

After quite a turbulent year, the Academy has finally managed to hold the 93rd Academy Awards. However, it was possible to hold only virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of that, this year’s awards did have a very relaxed environment. For instance, the music did not interrupt any of the Oscars 2021 winners’ speeches. But, that does not mean the Oscars 2021 were any less historic.

Chloé Zhao becomes the second-ever woman and the first woman of color to win best director. Furthermore, Minari Youn Yuh-Jung won best supporting actress, becoming the first Korean actor to win the award in the Academy’s 93 years long history award. There was, however, one small surprise for many, as Anthony Hopkins won the best actor award for The Father, over the late Chadwick Boseman who was being pitted by many to claim the award in posthumous. But, Hopkins did not forget the late actor in his acceptance speech, speaking about him very fondly. Apart from that, there were some big winners at the 2021 Oscars.

Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland won a whopping three Oscars, winning Frances McDormand her fourth Oscar for best actress. Meanwhile, The Father, Mank, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Tenet, Judas and the Black Messiah, Soul, and Sound of Metal won two Oscars. Moreover, it was a pretty good night for streaming services, especially Netflix, which won a total of 7 Oscars. So, without any further ado, below is the 93rd Academy Awards winning list.
