Tyler Perry is all set to kill off his wildly popular character Madea. Hence we can say that the Madea’s days of raw language and foul play are now over. The character of “Madea” has helped to make Tyler Perry a fortune, but it sounds like he’s now over her. Tyler Perry has a signature get up when he transforms into Madea. He dons a wig, sports giant spectacles, and dresses up in popping floral frocks to portray the sharply-tongued dame.  His stage work as Madea ha also won him several accolades. And now as he gears up to step out of Madea ‘s shoes, we cannot help but feel disappointed.

Tyler Perry Announces A Death Call For Madea

While discussing the subject with host Bevy Smith this Monday on her SiriusXM radio show, “Revelations”, Perry revealed that he was done playing the grumpy old lady. He said ‘This is it.’ And later, he went on to add “It’s time for me to kill that old (expletive). I’m tired!” Tyler Perry appeared clearly frustrated after his repetitive renditions of the grumpy, old Madea. So the announcement did not particularly come as a surprise.

The Character Has Made Groundbreaking, Profitable Appearances

The character – based on his own mother, aunt and Eddie Murphy’s performance in “Nutty Professor II: The Klumps” –  had proved a successful business gag for Tyler Perry. In fact, Madea has grossed more than $500 million worldwide at the box office from 10 films. Perry has been playing Madea since 1999. And the impact of the granny was so profound that her strange senior citizen attires became fashion became fashion trends for the elderly. After 20 years of playing Mabel Earlene “Madea” Simmons, Tyler Perry is calling it quits on the character. The 49-year-old actor is approaching his golden jubilee. Hence, the aged portrayal is not something that grips him anymore.

The Last Time Fans Will Get To See Madea

Madea fans have no need to panic, however. As their beloved gun-touting grandma from the stage will make a final cameo in a farewell stage tour. Along with that, she will also appear in the 2019’s “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral.” But based on Perry’s admission, it may be inevitable that the show will feature the obnoxious matriarch being laid to rest.

Tyler Perry’s years as Madea have made him capable of the same bitterness. And he says ‘I can do all bad myself”. Despite tragically blowing off his 20-year-old character, it is fairly visible that Perry would miss Madea greatly. And the character will also always stay close to his heart.
