On Tuesday evening, Kanye West clarified the allegations made against him regarding the ‘Blexit’ political movement. ‘Blexit’ emerged as a way to urge African-American voters to leave the Democratic Party. The concept, originated by Conservative supporter Candace Owens, advertised that West designed the group’s merchandise. It debuted a line of shirts and hats at Turning Point USA’s Young Black Leadership Summit on Saturday. The description for each item reportedly read “Design by Kanye West.”

Kanye Denies Involvement with ‘Blexit’

However, Kanye West denied the claim that he had designed the logo for it, saying he had nothing to do it. On Twitter the rapper claimed that he’s being used to spread messages he doesn’t even believe in.

“I never wanted any association with Blexit”, he wrote. “I have nothing to do with it.”

Candace Owens, Conservative Commentator

Candace Owens also released a statement about the issue, via Twitter. She backtracked on what she had said earlier in an attempt to eliminate Kanye’s name from the fuss. She even took full accountability for it.

“I said on stage that my friend and fellow superhero helped me design the ‘X’ for BLEXIT,” she wrote. “BLEXIT is a project that is mine entirely. I am blessed that Ye introduced me to a designer who despite having totally different beliefs than me, helped me craft some beautiful letters that I used on the BLEXIT caps.”

But according to Page Six, Owens had previously said at a recent Washington, D.C. event that “Blexit is a renaissance and I am blessed to say that this logo, these colors, were created by my dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West.”

Moreover, Owens had also added that West “has taken one of the boldest steps in America to open a conversation we have needed to have.” Thus, Owens’ later statement attempting to downplay West’s connection to ‘Blexit’ wasn’t as effective. It didn’t really satisfy people who now blamed West for fueling political ideas like ‘Blexit’. This led to him being even more adamant about his stance.

Kanye Distances Himself From Politics

Kanye West further went on to show he had no interest in politics anymore, “I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative,” West established on Twitter.
