Ava DuVernay Making Netflix Documentary of Prince

The director of civil rights drama Selma-Ava DuVernay is all set to compose a documentary on the life of the late funk musician Prince. The multi-part documentary will be produced by Netflix. And will cover the entire life of Prince. Since it is being made with the cooperation of the musician’s estate, Ava DuVernay will have complete access to his archives. And for everybody who is still mourning the great loss, this documentary is bound to lift your spirits. What else do we need than a look at the entire life of our favorite stars?

The Documentary on Prince

DuVernay is excited about her upcoming project with Netflix. While discussing it, she shared that Prince was a genius. And also a joy and jolt to senses. He was like nobody else. And shattered all boundaries and preconceived notions and shared his heart out through his music. She said that the only way he knows to make this documentary is with love. And also with great care. Ava DuVernay claimed that she was honored at this grateful opportunity that was given to her by the estate.

Ava DuVernay has been working on this Netflix documentary for several months now. According to reports, she was already reached out to by Prince before his death. The estate of Prince has also given Ava DuVernay their blessing for this project.

Ava DuVernay is a great director, and with that, nobody should have any doubts. She began her career with music documentaries and produced This Is the Life and My Mic Sounds Nice. Now, she is currently working on Central Park Five which is a four-part TV series about the 1989 case that wrongly accuses five men of color for the assault and rape of a woman jogging in Central Park.

The first material from the Prince archive was released back in September after his death. It included Piano and a Microphone 1983-an album of solo piano demos of songs, included Purple Rain and his cover of Joni Mitchell’s A Case of You.

Apart from this Netflix documentary by Ava DuVernay, there is a separate documentary on the musician which will air on UK’s Channel 4.
