Daisy Ridley clarifies on Spider-Woman rumors
The Star Wars franchise shot Daisy Ridley to unprecedented fame. However, her journey with Lucasfilm has ended once and for all, which means the actor is open to working on other projects. But, fans want to desperately see her in another major franchise, especially in the MCU. They want her to take on the role of Jessica Drew in a potential Spider-Woman film. Now, the actress has finally addressed those rumors in a recent interview.
Daisy Ridley addresses Spider-Woman rumors
In a past interview, Ridley showed interest in playing Spider-Woman. That sparked rumors all across the internet that she may be in talks with Marvel to play that role in a potentially upcoming film. In a later interview with ComicBookMovie.com, she indeed admitted liking the idea. However, she wants people to just lower their expectations, as Ridley said:
Well, it’s funny because someone asked me off the cuff about the Spider-Woman rumors recently, and I went, ‘Oh, that sounds great.’ Apparently, I’ve now declared myself a frontrunner to be Spider-Woman which isn’t true! It’s funny because I don’t really choose things… I [didn’t] set out to do another ‘big film.’ I just read the [Chaos Walking] script, loved it, and loved the idea of it.
So, that pretty much puts a nail to the coffin of those rumors. However, Daisy Ridley is open to joining the MCU as it does seem fun. However, like any other actor, she is waiting for something to come her way, so she could decide if the offer vibes with her. Ridley continued:
Basically, should something come along and be great, of course, I’d be open to anything. I just finished WandaVision. What they did with it is so amazing and different and interesting. To be particularly in that world, which is ever-shifting and reimagining itself would be very exciting.
Daisy Ridley has addressed a potential MCU role in the past as well on The Graham Norton Show. And even though it’s clear Marvel has made no approach, Ridley would be an amazing fit for Jessica Drew in Olivia Wilde’s female-led Spider-Man spinoff. And after working for Disney, Ridley is definitely ready to lead a franchise movie all by herself. Moreover, she must have taken tips from Tom Holland as well while working with him on Chaos Walking.
