Ariana Grande Makes Fans Emotional with First Post-Breakup Performance: ‘The Wizard and I’
Last night, Ariana Grande’s special Halloween performance aired on NBC as part of the show, “A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway”. The show brought together different stars, including Ariana Grande to sing some of the show’s biggest hits. But the performance that really struck a chord with the audience was that of Grande’s. The crowd loved her version of the musical!
Ariana’s Emotional Year
According to reports, Ariana Grande almost didn’t perform, considering the recent traumatic events in her life. Ariana’s ex Mac Miller’s tragic death from a drug overdose and her breakup from Pete Davidson had left her a lot to deal with.
The day after the breakup news hit, Ariana posted a picture of her script for the special on both Twitter and Instagram. However, according to ‘People’, she reportedly skipped the final dress rehearsal just hours before the taping. She also hid her Davidson tattoo with a Band-Aid during the performance.
She wrote on social media that her anxiety almost ruined the taping for her, but she was able to overcome it: “can’t believe i almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today !!! not today satan !”
The ‘Wicked’ Performance
Despite everything Grande has been through, she didn’t let her demons get the best of her. She lighted the entire stage up with her amazing performance, stunning the crowd! Coupled with her charming glittery-green look, she left fans in the audience with goosebumps all over.
She performed the song “The Wizard and I” to honor the 15th anniversary of the musical.
